Azerbaijan tap Southeast Asian travel market

-

SINGAPORE, 18 October 2019:  Azerbaijan Tourism Board connects with Southeast Asia’s travel trade for the first time ever at ITB Asia.

During its appearance at ITB Asia, the country invited the travel trade in Asia to “Take Another Look” and explore the country’s rich cultural offerings and experience its ancient heritage.

Attending ITB Asia 2019 was part of Azerbaijan Tourism Board’s strategy to explore opportunities in Asia’s by reaching out to travel agencies.

Southeast Asia is an emerging market with huge potential for travel. Last year, Southeast Asia (Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam) recorded 77 million outbound departures.

“We are delighted to launch our new brand identity and the ‘Take Another Look’ campaign at ITB Asia. And we look forward to introducing our destination brand to Asian visitors, enhancing our tourism proposition in the industry, as we continue to provide tourists with unique, authentic experiences that will leave them with lasting memories for a lifetime,” said Azerbaijan Tourism Board chief executive, Florian Sengstschmid.

Azerbaijan recently implemented a simplified electronic visa procedure to allow visitors to obtain a visa when travelling to the country easily. Nationals of both Thailand and Vietnam are eligible for the e-visa system, while Singaporeans and Malaysians are eligible for a visa-on-arrival.

Direct air services are a challenge and the lack of five-star resorts. Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB) is a national promotion body established under the State Tourism Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
