Vietjet expands Japan flights

-

SINGAPORE, 18 December 2018: Vietjet has introduced its first service linking the southern Vietnamese city of Ho Chi Minh City with Osaka at Kansai International Airport.

Vietjet’s latest route launched at the weekend follows on from a new service linking Hanoi, the Vietnamese capital and Osaka that was introduced last month.

The new service from Ho Chi Minh City operates daily with a flight time of just over five hours one-way.

The flight departs from Ho Chi Minh City at 0140  and arrives in Osaka at 0830.

The return flight takes off at 0930 and lands in Ho Chi Minh City at 1330.

Attending the inaugural ceremony last Friday were: Vietjet’s managing director Luu Duc Khanh and Kansai Airports chief commercial officer, Gregory Jamet, as well as representatives from Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism.

Vietjet’s new service will compete with Vietnam Airlines and Japan’s ANA that both offer daily services to Osaka from Ho Chi Minh City.

Vietjet clearly has the edge quoting a roundtrip fare of USD251 before add-ons such as seat selection, a meal and check-in luggage. Vietnam Airlines and ANA sell fares of USD701 and USD768.

Vietjet has another flight launch in the pipeline for 11 January 2019 that will connect the two capitals Hanoi and Tokyo.
