HANOI, 26 October 2018: The National Tourism Year 2019 will feature a range of activities with the spotlight on Khanh Hoa province, while other supporting activities will focus on 15 venues across the nation.
Khanh Hoa province will host the National Tourism Year 2019 as the signature destination according to last week’s announcement by the Vietnam’s Steering Organising Committee for the National Tourism Year 2019.
Each year the country’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in collaboration with provincial People’s Committees nation-wide, identifies destinations that will be promoted under the “National Tourism Year” banner.
Cities and provinces designated National Tourism Year status are expected to host socio-economic and cultural events to raise public awareness on the development of tourism, while linking the campaign to sustainable development goals within their localities.
In 2019, the central coastal province of Khanh Hoa will host the signature National Tourism Year events. The official announcement of the event will be combined with the 2019 New Year celebration, 31 December, in Khanh Hoa’s Nha Trang city.
The opening ceremony for the 2019 National Tourism Year will take place in May 2019, in parallel with the opening of the local biennial Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa Sea Festival.
According to the National Tourism Year organisers, Khanh Hoa will host the opening ceremony and the inauguration of the 2019 Sea Festival, as well as a maritime week, a conference on regional tourism development, a beer festival, a beauty pageant contest and a Hong Kong – Nha Trang yacht race.
Meanwhile, other tourism-related activities will be carried out in 15 other cities and provinces, including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan, and Ba Ria – Vung Tau.
Praising the development of Khanh Hoa tourism in recent years, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Nguyen Ngoc Thien, urged the province and the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism to conduct further studies to create a slogan for National Tourism Year 2019. It will establish a trademark to promote the status of not only Khanh Hoa, but also national tourism branding.
He noted that the National Tourism Year should lure more tourists to Khanh Hoa and fulfil the task of promoting the tourism brand of Vietnam and Khanh Hoa to a higher level.
At the working session, the secretary of Khanh Hoa provincial party committee, Le Thanh Quang, said the province would have sufficient resources and has mobilised funds for tourism infrastructure development.
