Fernandes to speak at PATA event

BANGKOK, 31 August 2017: AirAsia Group CEO, Tony Fernandes, will address the forthcoming PATA Youth Symposium in Macau SAR, hosted by the Institute for Tourism Studies (IFT), 13 September.

Organised by the Association’s Human Capital Development Committee, the Symposium adopts the theme  ‘Enabling Travel and Managing a Complex Future’.

UK falling out of favour

LONDON 25 August 2017: The UK is falling out of favour as a must-visit English speaking destination for young travellers wanting to study, tour and work, a wide-ranging new report has warned.

Visa controls, currency fluctuations and an unfriendly impression following Brexit are putting one in five young visitors off visiting the UK, says the British Educational Travel Association.

The latest visitor statistics show youth travel is no longer growing as it once did. At the same time competitive English speaking countries elsewhere are thriving. Read more

Youth Soccer in Thailand

BANGKOK, 18 March 2015: Soccer. Also known as football to many Europeans, although to an American of course this refers to an entirely different ball game. Soccer is a universal sport, beloved of millions around the globe. Whether as a spectator or a player, millions of fans enjoy the thrill and challenge of soccer. And nowhere in Asia is the love of soccer more evident than in Thailand, perhaps the most football crazy nation in the region.

When a Thai asks you where you are from, these days the next question will often be something along the lines of “which football team do you support?”, often appended with the name of the football club that the questioner supports (odds are it will be Manchester United or Chelsea, two teams that have captured the imagination of perhaps millions of Thai soccer fans).

Most Thai cities and plenty of smaller towns boast their own football clubs and there are several professional and many amateur leagues vying for honours on countless pitches and stadiums the length and breadth of the country every week.

Centra appeals to young travellers

BANGKOK, 13 January 2015: Centra Taum Seminyak Bali has been recognised as the “best youth hotel” at the Indonesia Travel and Tourism Awards.

The awards were presented at a gala dinner in Jakarta, attended by travel and tourism industry leaders, government, community and diplomatic representatives, as well as local and international media.

Located at Kerobokan, Seminyak, on the sun-set-side of Bali, the Centra Taum Seminyak Bali features 90 rooms, of which the majority are studios with some duplexes that come with their own private pool as well as two-and three-bedroom units.
