Avis cuts rentals 20%

-

SINGAPORE, 11 July 2019:  Avis has launched a car rental sale in Singapore throughout August to celebrate the country’s 54th National Day and Hari Raya Haji.

To entice travellers to consider a road trip during one of the country’s longest weekends, Avis is offering savings of up to 20%.

Vehicles need to be picked up from Singapore with a minimum of three days’ rental between 1 to 31 August 2019.

Travellers can drive to visit their families over the long weekend or find the best spots to watch the National Day firework.

The offer also extends to Singaporeans who can drive the rentals for road trips to destinations in Malaysia such as Ipoh and Cameron Highlands.

Tips when renting a car

Car selection – Renting a car suitable for the type of road trip you are planning to take is crucial. If you are travelling as a family, pick a spacious car that can fit all your luggage and passengers comfortably. For example, if you are travelling as a couple, a compact car would be ideal for your trip, whereas a family may require a 4×4.

Preparation is important – Sign up for Avis Preferred at www.avis.com.sg/avispreferred. Once you’ve collected your vehicle, always carry out vital vehicle checks such as if there’s adequate tyre pressure, working headlights, sufficient water and engine oil levels and a full tank of petrol.

Timing can be key – Don’t get caught up in rush hour traffic! Leaving at an earlier time could save you the stress of traffic jams. For example, if you’re planning a trip to Malaysia, the best times to cross the causeway would be earlier in the morning (even before 0600) or the day before the public holiday. You can make use of apps or websites such as www.checkpoint.sg to check road conditions before you head out.

Take necessary breaks – Mark out rest stops and food places that you can stop at along your journey. This is a great excuse for everyone to stretch, get some air, as well as savour the delicious local food.

In-car activities – If you are driving with children, preparing in-car activities such as toys, game apps, colouring books or even audiobooks can keep them occupied while allowing you to focus on the road.
