BANGKOK, 17 July 2017: ASIA DMC has introduced a tree planting initiative in Thailand, tagged ‘Roots and Fruits’.

According to regional tour company, the campaign will see the planting of hundreds of fruit trees across remote, socially deprived areas, with the aim of providing a new, sustainable income for communities in need.

To initiate the campaign in Thailand, ASIA DMC and the HG Foundation visited a temple school at Samui Sakhon, to plant trees that will produce a potential 9,000 kg of fruit. Read more

STB serves notice on travel agency

SINGAPORE, 2 June 2017: Singapore Tourism Board announced, 31 May, that it served a revocation notice against a travel agency a day earlier.

It named Misa Travel Pte Ltd (MISA Travel) [licence no 00920] saying it has served a notice of revocation in accordance with the Travel Agents Act (Chapter 334).

In accordance with the Travel Agents Act, Misa Travel Pte Ltd will be given until 21 June to provide reasons against the revocation of their travel agent licence, failing which the revocation will take effect unless an appeal is submitted to the Ministry of Trade and Industry. Read more

Trip to Japan turns to disaster

BANGKOK, 12 April 2017: More than 1,000 Thai travellers were stranded at Bangkok’s busy Suvarnabhumi Airport, on the eve of Thailand’s annual Songkran holiday, when their holiday arrangements to Japan no-showed.

They thought they had bought packages from a travel agency and early media reports appeared to confirm that, but within hours it became apparent WealthEver, the organiser of the fake Japan tours has no connection with Thailand’s travel industry.

It probably represents the biggest holiday scam to hit Thailand’s holiday travellers. Tourists were visibly upset and angry when they realised they had prepaid between THB10,000 to 15,000 for packages that were fake courtesy of Facebook pages. Read more

KUALA LUMPUR, 25 January 2016: Mayflower Corporate Travel Services Sdn Bhd was awarded ‘Most Productive Travel Agent for 2015’ following year-long Sabre and Malaysia Airlines travel agency promotion.

Sabre Corporation and Malaysia Airlines hosted the event to recognise top Malaysian travel agency partners last Friday night.

Following a series of travel agency promotions run in 2015 to support flight bookings, Malaysia Airlines and Sabre staff gathered with over 200 local travel agency representatives at Zouk Club, Kuala Lumpur, to present the grand prize, a Toyota Vios, for the ‘Most Productive Travel Agent for 2015’. EXO: Bottles turn to bricks

PHNOM PENH, 7 April 2015: A regional tour company’s CSR’s programme is helping Battambang communities turn plastic waste into commercial house bricks.

EXO Foundation, in its latest newsletter said it has teamed up with Cambodian Education and Waste Management Organisation (COMPED) to start a pilot project in Battambang to reduce a mountain of plastic waste.

The foundation, which is part of EXO Travel, a leading tour operator based in Asia, positions Battambang as one of the “most alluring urban centres situated to the west of Tonle Sap Lake,” known for its colonial architecture.
