UDON THANI, 9 August 2017: Low cost airline, Thai Lion Air, betters its competitors on the Bangkok-Udon Thani route offering the lowest roundtrip fares starting at USD38.

A check of roundtrip fares during September for flights to Udon Thani, a gateway city in upper Northeast Thailand, indicates Thai Lion Air is a good deal cheaper than other local competitors.

Udon is a popular destination for international travellers, who intend to visit Laos. The domestic fare to Udon is considerably cheaper than the fare on the international route Bangkok-Vientiane. Read more

Thai airline compete on Kolkata route

BANGKOK, 31 October 2016: Thai AirAsia will operate direct flight services from Bangkok (DMK) to Kolkata in India, effective 16 December.

According to the airline, the Indian outbound travel market is growing fast and Koltaka the largest city after Mumbai has strong trading links with Thailand’s Indian community. Visiting friends and relatives traffic prospers.

Thai AirAsia already flies to three Indian destinations: Chennai (five flights weekly), Bengaluru (five flights weekly) and Kochi (daily).   Read more

King Power snatches AirAsia stake

BANGKOK, 14 June 2016: King Power, the Thai duty free conglomerate behind the remarkable rise of English football champions Leicester City, said Tuesday it had bought a USD225 million stake in Thai AirAsia, the country’s largest budget airline.

The purchase allows King Power’s billionaire owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha to further tap into Thailand’s booming tourism industry and expand beyond his duty-free and hotel portfolio.

Thai AirAsia is 55% owned by Asia Aviation, a Thai company, while the rest is owned by the AirAsia group founded by Malaysian entrepreneur Tony Fernandes. Read more
