Incentives to Korea on the rise

SEOUL, 8 January 2018: The number of incentive travel tourists who visited Korea in 2017, excluding visitors from China, reached 183,307, reflecting a 25% increase over the previous year.

According to Korea Tourism Organization CEO, Changsu Jung, Korea’s incentive travellers from Southeast Asia increased dramatically.

This was illustrated by visits from Vietnam registered at 56,246  up 90.5%, Philippines 4,855, up 128.7%  and Malaysia 16,681  up 27.3%. Read more

Destination Asia strengthen North America sales

BANGKOK, 14 December 2017: Destination Asia has appointed Michelle Rust to head its North American incentive travel and event business development for the Asian region.

The new appointment offers North American customers access to highly skilled Asian operations, backed by Destination Asia’s existing sales and marketing team located in their head office in Bangkok.

Rust, originally from New England and based in New York City, brings over 17 years’ experience to the role. Read more

Meeting costs rise in 2018

BANGKOK , 8 December 2017:  The overall cost per attendee per day for meetings and events, worldwide, increased in 2017 and is expected to continue rising next year, according to the 2018 Meetings and Events Future Trends report.

Released  by CWT Meetings & Events (CWT M&E), a division of global travel management company, Carlson Wagonlit Travel, the report shows regional differences and cost projections as well as the latest industry trends and top destinations.

“Costs are rising in key M&E markets, globally,” said, CWT M&E senior vice president and global head, Cindy Fisher. “With a 3.7% increase in hotels and 3.5% rise in air fares projected for the coming year, that trend is likely to continue.” Read more

Report identifies Thailand MICE power

DUBLIN, 3 May 2017: Research and Markets has released its latest report “Thailand MICE Industry & Forecast to 2022” that forecasts the country will host more than 1.3 million MICE travellers by 2022.

The report suggests Thailand’s Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE) sourced internationally will generate USD4 Billion revenue.

The MICE industry is one of the key sectors that Thailand is developing, mainly through the government’s Thailand Conventions and Exhibitions Bureau (TCEB) in a bid to draw quality international visitors. Read more

TCEB targets mega events

BANGKOK, 19 May 2016: Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau is targeting mega events to boost meetings business in the country.

TCEB president, Nopparat Maythaveekulchai, said the focus this year is on meetings and incentives travel to draw mega events with more than 2,000 international delegates.

TCEB offers what it calls “Thailand Big Thanks!” campaign, that targets organisers with a promise of financial incentives to bring major meetings and incentives to the country. Read more
