Taxi drivers told to behave

BANGKOK, 26 June 2017: The Land Transport Department has asked taxi drivers to improve their manners after some drivers set about a car driver they suspected was an Uber of Grab member.

The incident that occurred at the weekend could have turned nasty.

TTM: Self-drive trips from China in park gear

CHIANG MAI, 16 June 2017: Thailand’s Minister of Tourism and Sports, Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul, promised overland travel regulations that currently impede the flow of self-drive holidays from China will be resolved soon.

She was fielding a question during a panel discussion on Moving Towards a Shared Prosperity attended by representatives from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam and Thailand, on the sidelines of TTM 2017, Thursday.

The five-country tourism bloc called CLMVT is expected to welcome close to 13 million tourists from China this year, but the flow of self-drive tours through Laos to Thailand has dried up mainly due to strict rules enforced by Thailand’s Land Transport Department. Read more
