Adventure on the River Kwai

BANGKOK, 27 June 2017: Khiri Travel Thailand has launched a new two-day/one-night Sai Yok National Park Adventure Package.

The national park is a three-hour drive west of Bangkok.

Starting in Kachanaburi town, the new trip combines hiking, kayaking, forest ecology insights and an overnight in a comfortable floating raft house on the River Kwai. Read more

Vietnam identifies adventure travel as the next gig

HANOI, 8 June 2017: Vietnam National Administration of Tourism says Vietnam has strong potential to develop adventure tourism.

Local media quoted VNAT’s deputy general director, Ngo Hoai Chung, saying that despite great natural resources, Vietnam’s adventure tourism is still not developed.

“Not many localities and businesses have invested in this tourism sector…there are many different types of tourism, adventure travel is now witnessing the highest growth rate so we should capitalise on it,” he said. Read more

China hosts adventure travel mart

BANGKOK, 8 March 2017: Adventure travel worldwide is forecast to grow at a rate of 46% between 2016 and 2020, according to the Global Adventure Tourism Market Report 2016 to 2020.

It is just one of many insights into the lucrative adventure travel market that delegates will glean at this year’s PATA Adventure Conference and Travel Mart, hosted in Luoyang, China, 1 to 4 April.

Organised and sponsored by the China National Tourism Administration and Henan Provincial People’s Government, the PATA event will run side-by-side with the Luoyang Adventure Tourism and Equipment Expo. Read more

Contest for adventure films

SEATTLE, 8 February 2017: The Adventure Travel Trade Association will showcase films inspiring adventure travel in its fourth annual Adventure in Motion short film competition, beginning this June.

The Adventure in Motion film competition (#AdventureinMotion) will be hosted on ATTA’s consumer website, Adventure.Travel, to reach a wider audience and encourage consumer viewing of the entries.

Previous entries in the Adventure in Motion competition featured adventure travel experiences, worldwide, including close encounters with wildlife and personal stories of the locals who help protect and preserve these areas that travellers enjoy. Read more

Adventure travel expands in Asia

CHIANG RAI, 24 February 2016: Adventure travel is a key component for Southeast Asian nations if they are to spread the benefits of tourism to secondary destinations.

That was the core message for 278 adventure travel experts from 34 countries attending the Pacific Asia Travel Association Adventure and Responsible Tourism Conference and Mart at Chiang Rai’s Dusit Island Resort, late last week.

The two-day event  attracted 44 sellers from 28 travel related companies, 10 destinations, 32 specialised buyers from 20 countries and 11 travel bloggers. The total turnout reached 278 compared to just 200 delegates, last year, when the event was held in Bhutan. Read more
