AirAsia increases Kunming flights

SEPANG, Malaysia, 12 December 2017- AirAsia will increase flights from both Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok, Thailand to Kunming, the capital of Yunnan province, Southwest China.

Flights from Kuala Lumpur to Kunming will increase from daily to double daily starting 19 December, while the Bangkok -Kunming service will also increase to 14 flights weekly, effective 16 January, 2018.

To mark the increase in services, AirAsia is offering all-in-fares as low as MYR179 from Kuala Lumpur to Kunming. Read more

Etihad adds second flight to Jordan

ABU DHABI, 8 December 2017: Etihad Airways will launch a second daily flight between Abu Dhabi and Amman, effective 25 March 2018.

The double daily year-round schedule will provide greater choice to local passengers travelling between Abu Dhabi and Amman, with attractive timings of late morning and evening departures from the capital cities of the UAE and Jordan, respectively.

The additional flight, operated by an Airbus A320 with 16 seats in business class and 120 in economy, will also improve connectivity over Abu Dhabi to a wider network of destinations across Asia and the Indian Subcontinent. Read more

SQ and MI codeshare with Scoot

SINGAPORE, 6 December 2017: SIA and SilkAir customers will gain booking access to over 30  destinations as a codeshare deal with Scoot progressively rolls out.

The deal opens up more travel options for Singapore Airlines  and SilkAir customers who  can now book flights to more than 130 destinations across the SIA Group network, which includes the low-cost airline Scoot.

Under the agreement, SIA will progressively add its ‘SQ’ designator code, while SilkAir will add its ‘MI’ code to Scoot-operated flights between Singapore and more than 30 destinations served by Scoot. Read more

Lombok airport closed

DENPARSAR, 1 December 20127: A change of wind has forced the closure of Lombok airport, late Thursday, although Bali’s airport remains open and is being served by both  scheduled and charter flights sent in to evacuate thousands of stranded travellers.

A leading tour operator, Asian Trails with offices in Bali reports the situation remains unchanged with “ongoing ash clouds filling the skies over the region.”

Despite the reopening of Bali International Airport, government officials say the situation could change at any moment in line with forecasted weather conditions. Read more

AirAsia raises flights to Johor Bahru

SENAI, 29 November 2017 – AirAsia celebrated, Tuesday, the launch of two international inaugural flights to Johor Bahru’s Senai International Airport, from Macau and Kolkata, India.

The daily direct flights from Macau and the five weekly direct flights from Kolkata are the fourth and fifth new routes launched by the airline to serve the southern Malaysia hub this year.

The earlier launches  were  Johor Bahru-Jakarta, Johor Bahru-Kuala Terengganu and Johor Bahru-Langkawi. Read more

Bali airport remains closed

DENPARSAR, 28 November 2017: Bali’s international airport has extended its closure for another 24 hours, until at least 0700 local time on Wednesday. The airport authorities will update  the status daily.

The airport suspended all flights to and from the island early Monday morning, stranding thousands of passengers and forcing airlines across the region to cancel flights to Bali.

Governments are advising citizens to defer travel to the island. Read more

BANGKOK, 16 October 2017: Tour East has gained access to Expedia Local Expert’s programme reaching out to more than 1 million Expedia customers visiting Phuket and Bangkok to offer them in-destination services.

Expedia signed an agreement with Tour East Thailand, earlier this month, that creates a partnership with the inbound tour company and allows it to sell tours and transfers, ultimately in all major tourist destinations in Thailand,

It’s the first agreement of its kind outside of the US where Expedia launched its “Local Experts” programme in 2013 that acts as a concierge for travellers booked through Expedia. Read more

Nok boosts network with charters

BANGKOK, 3 October 2017: Nok Air has started flight operations from U-tapao airport, 30 km south of Pattaya resort.

The low-cost airline marked the first flight from the airport with a celebratory water spray arch to welcome the aircraft that flew from Nanchang.

The airline is contracted to offer four weekly charter flights from Nanchang, China, that arrive at 1600 at U-tapao International Airport. Read more

Passenger traffic at Changi rises

SINGAPORE, 22 September 2017: Singapore Changi Airport registered 5.27 million passenger movements in August, a 7.0% year-on-year increase.

There was a 10.7% increase in airfreight throughput to 180,590 tonnes, while aircraft movements rose 4.9% to 31,750 landings and take-offs.

Passenger traffic during August was supported by growth across all regions, with air travel to and from South Asia, Africa and the Americas rising by double digits. Read more
