PHNOM PENH, 8 September 2017: A brand new Cardamom Tented Camp in Botum Sakor National Park in southwest Cambodia is due to soft open 1 November.

To launch the luxury tent stays in a national park setting the resort released details three-day/two-night and four-day/three-night packages for nature tourists.

The safari-style camp, with nine furnished and boutique tents, each with a private bathroom, is open for booking for stays 1 November onwards. Read more

Bali next venue for Capella tents

SINGAPORE, 21 November 2016: Capella Hotel Group Asia has named PT Awahita Indonesia as the operator of a new luxury resort in Ubud, Bali.

Located in densely forested terrain, Capella Ubud will offer 22 luxury tents designed by veteran architect, Bill Bensley.

Capella Hotel Group Asia chief executive officer, Nicholas Clayton, said: “Within the next 18 months, we will introduce three Capella projects to Asia, beginning with Shanghai in Spring 2017, Ubud in Autumn 2017 and Bangkok in Spring 2018. Each Capella hotel will showcase the heritage of each destination.” Read more

Minor’s Elewana expands in Kenya

BANGKOK, 12 May 2016: Safari camp and lodge operator Elewana has opened a new tented camp on the site of the former Loisaba Lodge.

Bangkok-based Minor Hotels Group has a 50% stake in the tented camp’s owing company, Elewana Afrika.

Located on a 600 ft escarpment, the camp’s accommodation commands spectacular views stretching across the Laikipia Plains to Mount Kenya. Read more

Camping is now glamping

PHUKET, 17 February 2016: More travellers to Southeast Asia are opting for a luxury tent stay according to international hospitality consulting firm C9 Hotelworks.

Its latest report covers the transformation of the sector from simple camping to what the sector’s proponants call “glamping.”

Noting the rising influence of glamping, C9 Hotelworks managing director, Bill Barnett said: “Sleeping in tents can be traced back to pre-historic times and the dawn of humankind, which makes them the world’s second accommodation innovation hot on the heels of the cave.” Read more

Work begins on luxury tent resort

GEROKGAK, BULELENG, 29 September 2015: The groundbreaking of a tented resort on the coast of North Bali opposite Menjangan Island took place, last week, with local officials, company directors and government officials attending the event, hosted by the owning company; PT Prapat Agung.

The all-tented resort will provide a different experience from other resorts in Bali” commented company president and director, Sandy Rachmat.

The resort named Menjangan Dynasty Resort, Beach Camp and Dive Centre is scheduled to open in August 2016 and will be managed by Prime Plaza Hotels and Resorts.
