China hosts 22nd UNWTO assembly

MADRID, 6 September 2017: China for will host the global UNWTO General Assembly, next week, which is expected to attract more 1,000 delegates representing government tourist departments and ministries.

The bi-annual event takes place in Chengdu, China 11 to 16 September to discuss how tourism can contribute to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The agenda will also include plans for the Organization for 2018 to 2019 including the official announcement on the appointment of new secretary general that is waiting assembly approval. Read more

TG president on APPA panel

BANGKOK, 22 November 2016: Presidents and CEO of 16 airlines members of the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA) met in Manila, last week.

Thai Airways International president, Charamporn Jotikasthira, represented Thailand national airline at the annual meeting of presidents of a trade association that represents legacy airlines in the Asia-Pacific region.

The Assembly covered issues such as aviation infrastructure, safety, regulations and the increasing tax burden imposed by Asia’s governments. Read more

UNWTO starts shopping network

MEDELLÍN, 16 September 2015: Bidding to host the 22nd UNWTO General Assembly, China hosted delegates for a lavish party during the five-day 21st assembly, 12 to 17 September.

Around 800 delegates attended ‘China Night’,  jointly hosted by China National Tourism Administration (CNTA) and UnionPay International to consolidate its  bid to host the event next year.

The assembly attracted 900 registered delegates from 120 countries.
