Holiday pick is child’s play

SINGAPORE, 19 December 2016: Children are playing an important role in deciding where families go and what they do when on holiday, a recent Holiday Inn® survey discovered.

A resounding seven in 10 respondents of the Holiday Inn ‘Do More of What You Love’ survey said it was important to get their little one’s input when choosing how and where to spend precious family breaks.

YAANA charity sponrors cleft-lip repairs

BANGKOK, 30 November 2016: Three winners of the YAANA Venture Operation Smile Charity Fight Night won adventure holidays at the fundraising event late last week in Bangkok.

Fight Night is an annual charity boxing match, silent auction and raffle that raises money to give free operations to children in rural Thai provinces to repair cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities.

The event is organised by YAANA Ventures, the travel group that owns and manages Khiri Travel. Read more

Crossed wires on overstay fears

BANGKOK, 18 March 2016: The sensitive issue of whether young children, who lack a valid visa to stay in Thailand, should be banned from future visits gained an airing through a Line group earlier this week.

Under new rules, due to come into effect, 20 March, the Immigration Bureau will crackdown on all foreigners overstaying their welcome in Thailand.

The Line group raised the spectre of children under the age of 14 being included in the crackdown. Read more

UNWTO names network chief

MADRID, 12 February 2015: Former head of UNICEF will chair the UNWTO World Tourism Network on Child Protection effective this March.

UNWTO announced, earlier this week, that Carol Bellamy, former executive director of UNICEF (1995 to 2005), has been named chair of the UNWTO World Tourism Network on Child Protection.

Bellamy starts her tenure at the Network’s 30th meeting, held on the sidelines of ITB Berlin, in March.

SilkAir aids Child’s Dream

SINGAPORE, 21 Janury 2015: SilkAir has adopted Child’s Dream Foundation, a charitable, not-for-profit organisation based in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

The non-government organisation empowers marginalised children and youth in the Mekong Sub-Region, mainly in Myanmar, Laos, Thailand and Cambodia focusing on improving the educational and health.

SilkAir’s chief executive officer, Leslie Thng, and Co-Founder of Child’s Dream Foundation, Marc Jenni, officially sealed a three-year collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding at a signing ceremony held today at Child’s Dream headquarters in Chiang Mai this week.
