Pattaya hosts PTT tennis

PATTAYA, 26 January 2012: Pattaya will once again welcome professional female tennis players to the PTT Pattaya Open Tennis Tournament, 5 to 12 February at Dusit Thani Hotel, Pattaya.

Now in its 21th year, the event is the longest running tennis event in the country organised by the Women’s Tennis Association. Around 80 professional female tennis players will compete at the eight-day event for prize money worth US$220,000 or around Bt6.8 million.

According to the host, Pentangle Promotions, the 21th PTT Pattaya Open should attract 3,000 to 4,000 visitors a day at the three tennis courts. Read more

International tennis in Pattaya

BANGKOK, 13 January 2011 – Pattaya will host an international tennis tournament the PTT Pattaya Open 2011, 6 to 13 February at Dusit Thani Hotel.

Celebrity players at this year’s event will include Vera Zvonareva from Russia, Ana Ivanovic from Serbia, Daniela Hantuchova from Slovakia, Maria Kirikenko from Russia and Tamarine Tanasugarn from Thailand.

This is the 20th edition of the PTT Pattaya Open, which should attract 48 top tennis players and more than 3,050 spectators for the final rounds of the competition.

Turkish Airlines backs tennis

BANGKOK 1 September, 2010 – Turkish Airlines yesterday signed an agreement with PTT Thailand Open to be the platinum sponsor of this year’s tournament, scheduled 25 September to 3 October at IMPACT Arena – Muang Thong Thani.

In announcing the sponsorship deal with Turkish Airlines, president of the Lawn Tennis Association of Thailand, Suwat Liptapanlop said: “We welcome Turkish Airlines as a Platinum sponsor to this year’s PTT Thailand Open, which promises to be a highly competitive and exciting event having attracted such players as World #1 Rafael Nadal.
