Macau air link to Phuket

MACAU, 16 October 2017: AirAsia’s newest route will link Macau, Asia’s top gambling destination with Thailand’s holiday island Phuket.

Scheduled for launch 8 January, 2018, the service is already open for bookings with a special fare starting at at THB 1,590 per sector.

Bookings are open from now until -29 October for travel, 8 January through to 21 November 2018. Read more

AirAsia makes comeback in Japan

SEPANG, Malaysia, 16 October 2017 – AirAsia Japan will be back in business, 29 October when it launches its maiden service from Nagoya to Sapporo.

The twice-daily service will commence will connecy Nagoya – AirAsia Japan’s main hub – to the capital of northern Hokkaido prefecture.

To mark the launch, AirAsia is selling a special promotional fare starting t JPY5* from 17 October  (0001h GMT +9) to 22 October 2017 (2359h GMT +9) for travel between 29 October and 24 March 2018. Read more

AirAsia X flies to Jeju this December

KUALA LUMPUR, 10 October 2017: AirAsia X will fly to Jeju, South Korea, 12 December, offering four weekly flights from its Kuala Lumpur base with promotional all-in fares from MYR199 one-way.

The special promo of all-in fares from MYR199 one-way for an economy seat and MYR899 one-way for the Premium Flatbed seat will run from 10 to 15 October 2for travel between 12 December 2017 and 25 March 2018, available for booking on airasia.com.

Fernandes to speak at PATA event

Push for Phang Nga airport

PHUKET, 7 August 2017: Thailand’s Phang Nga province recorded an all-time record high 4,475,223 visitors in 2016 as tourism revenue topped USD1.16 billion according to a new report by consulting group C9 Hotelworks.

While the numbers are impressive, the destination’s lack of a gateway airport remains a stumbling block to broader success.

Phang Nga and its leading resort area Khao Lak heavily rely on Phuket’s overloaded international airport as a lifeline. With over 12,000 registered hotel rooms in the province and a burgeoning pipeline of new projects, something has to give. Read more

AirAsia backs Davao gateway plans

DAVAO, 24 July 2017: Low-cost giant, AirAsia, has announced its latest route to Davao, Philippines with four weekly direct flights from Kuala Lumpur commencing 21 December 2017.

Operated exclusively by AirAsia (flight code AK), the new service is the fourth direct route from Malaysia to the Philippines after Manila, Cebu and Kalibo.

On the latter the airline has already flown 577,536 passengers in 2015 and 2016 alone. Read more

BENGALURU, 12 July 2017: AirAsia India is embarking on network expansion that will improve regional connectivity and increase the airline’s footprint in the country.

AirAsia India has added Bhubaneshwar to its list of destinations, while adding six new routes connecting New Delhi, Jaipur & Bagdogra to Kolkata.

Birds disrupt AirAsia flight

SYDNEY, 5 July 2017: An AirAsia flight to Malaysia was forced to return to Australia shortly after take-off following a suspected bird strike, the carrier said Tuesday, the second incident involving the airline in the country in two weeks.

Passengers said the plane shook and bangs came from the right engine of AirAsia X flight D7 207 following its departure from Australia’s Gold Coast to Kuala Lumpur late Monday.

The flight carrying 345 passengers and 14 crew was diverted to Brisbane airport just north of the eastern city and landed safely, the Malaysian carrier said. Read more

AirAsia add new flights

KUALA LUMPUR, 26 May 2017: AirAsia India increased flights on three services out of Bangalore effective, Thursday, 25 May.

From its Bangalore hub the service to Goa will increase from three to four daily flights. To Hyderabad flights increase from two to three daily, while to Kochi flights increase from 20 to 27 weekly.

Meanwhile, AirAsia X owned by AirAsia Group and based in Kuala Lumpur will offer a new service to Denpasar (Bali) 15 July. Read more
