SINGAPORE, 13 September 2023: DidaTravel, a global travel distribution company, has outperformed the wider Chinese outbound recovery, with a remarkable 40% growth in hotel sales, year-to-date when compared with pre-pandemic 2019 sales (292% growth compared to the same period, 2022).
DidaTravel posted its performance review on the eve of ITB China, taking place in Shanghai from 12 to 14 September.
Year-to-date, DidaTravel’s inbound hotel sales to China have experienced a remarkable 124% growth over 2019. This highlights China’s enduring allure as a travel destination and Dida’s ability to outpace the wider market dynamics and capture significant new market share.
DidaTravel’s top 10 source markets visiting China in 2023 are Thailand, Indonesia, Spain, India, Turkey, UAE, Brazil, Israel, USA and Switzerland.
Commenting on the performance DidaTravel founder and CEO Rikin Wu stated: “Dida’s success story is deeply intertwined with the evolving narrative of the Chinese travel market. We effectively anticipated the Chinese recovery, both inbound and outbound, working hard throughout the pandemic to significantly expand our portfolio of directly contracted hotels, many under exclusive terms, and working tirelessly to expand our distribution partnerships globally, and the results speak for themselves. We remain steadfast in our pursuit of excellence and are honoured to lead the industry forward.”
According to official Chinese government figures, just 52,000 inbound travellers visited China during Q1 2023, compared to 3.7 million in 2019. In Q2 2023, there were 425,800 incoming arrivals, down from 8.3 million in 2019.

BANGKOK, 13 September 2023: The Mekong Tourism Coordinating Office has launched a “Tourism internship” finder on MekongTourism.org.
The initiative is designed to help travel-related companies recruit labour and offer internships to reduce the staff shortage in the industry. It is also useful for interns seeking to gain a foothold on the tourism career ladder.
The internship finder targets young people studying tourism who would benefit from workplace experience. However, the internships are also open to people with aptitude who are not yet in education or training.
The tourism sector, which contributes about 16% of GDP to the whole Mekong subregion, according to ResearchGate.net, is grappling with skill shortages. This deficit impacts the quality of services offered to tourists and the industry’s overall sustainability, says the MTCO.
MTCO executive director Suvimol Thanasarakij said: “The MTCO invites tourism industry players in the Mekong region who are recruiting or plan to recruit to advertise internships on our website at no cost.”
The Mekong Tourism internship finder will feature tourism internship opportunities in Cambodia, China’s Yunnan and Guangxi provinces, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.
“We are confident that the internship initiative will enhance human capital development in the region and be instrumental in elevating the quality of services and experiences that the Mekong region offers tourists,” said Suvimol.

Air France-KLM and Etihad will expand their codeshare and interline agreements introduced in 2012. As a first step, more than 40 new routes covering destinations across Europe, the Middle East, Asia Pacific and Australia are now available for booking for travel as early as the winter 2023 season starting in late October.
The MoU sets the stage for frequent flyer members of both airlines to earn and redeem miles. Etihad operates daily flights from Abu Dhabi International Airport to Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Amsterdam Schiphol.
Air France will start operating daily flights between Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Abu Dhabi International Airport from 29 October 2023.

SINGAPORE, 12 September 2023: Hotelbeds has surpassed its target of planting more than 10,000 trees worldwide three months earlier than planned.
The achievement offsets more than 2,500 tonnes of CO2 emissions through the 12,000 trees donated to Tree Nation since October 2022, cementing the company’s position as a leader in environmental responsibility.
“Our Hotelbeds Forest represents an important step for us towards a stronger and healthier planet,” said Nicolas Huss, Hotelbeds’ CEO. “I’m proud of the enthusiasm and commitment shown by our global team to have reached this milestone ahead of schedule as we continue our carbon-neutral journey.”
The initiative was created to reinforce the company’s commitment to sustainability and its mission to make travel a force for good. Having initially planted a tree for every employee in countries where the company has a significant presence, it has been building its forest through staff donations and in honour of its clients and partners who attended its events, including MarketHubs. Employees have funded trees and donated their time to plant almost 1,800, boosting Hotelbeds’ planting projects in Mallorca, Italy and Thailand.
Since its inception, Hotelbeds has partnered with Tree Nation, a renowned non-profit organisation that provides real-time monitoring and tracking of each tree’s progress. From emission compensation to detailed tree specifications and locations, the transparency provided by Tree Nation has ensured the environmental impact of Hotelbeds Forest is clear and measurable.
This initiative has strengthened the company’s determination to fight climate change and fosters greater environmental awareness among its employees. Hotelbeds continues to be a sustainability leader in the travel industry, encouraging active participation through its belief that collective efforts can drive positive change on a global scale. For more information about Hotelbeds Forest and their commitment to sustainability.
