The agreement was signed by AirAsia Cambodia Chief Executive Officer, Nam Vissoth and Cambodia Tourism Board Chief Executive Officer Kim Minea, witnessed by Minister of Tourism and Chairman of the Cambodia Tourism Board Huot Hak.

Under the collaboration, AirAsia and CTB will jointly invest USD100,000 to co-develop and implement a series of marketing and promotional initiatives targeting travellers from India and Australia.

To bridge the gap in direct routes, the campaigns will actively promote AirAsia’s Fly-Thru via Kuala Lumpur. This connectivity enables seamless transit for travellers from both markets, allowing them to book a single itinerary, skip immigration during layovers, and have their baggage checked through directly to Cambodia. Planned activities include joint digital campaigns, advertising promotions, participation in travel expos, and familiarisation trips for key opinion leaders (KOLs) and media representatives from both markets.

The first joint campaign got underway in May 2026, highlighting Cambodia’s rich cultural heritage, vibrant cities, natural attractions, and unique travel experiences further to strengthen the Kingdom’s visibility among international travellers.

AirAsia Cambodia, Chief Executive Officer, Nam Vissoth, said: “As a Cambodian low-cost carrier, AirAsia Cambodia operates as part of the wider AirAsia X (AirAsia Group) network, committed to making air travel affordable and accessible to all. We are dedicated to ensuring every Cambodian can fly, a mission that directly drives Cambodia’s long-term tourism vision. Through our convenient Fly-Thru via Kuala Lumpur, we are seamlessly connecting Cambodia to key global markets like India and Australia, allowing international travellers to experience a hassle-free journey with a single itinerary booking and direct baggage check-through to the Kingdom.

“This strategic partnership with the Cambodia Tourism Board represents an important milestone in our shared mission to showcase the Kingdom’s rich cultural heritage, warm hospitality, and diverse tourism offerings to the world.”

Cambodia Tourism Board Chief Executive Officer Kim Minea added: “Strategic partnerships with international airlines such as AirAsia are essential in strengthening Cambodia’s tourism growth and global competitiveness. Aviation connectivity plays a critical role not only in increasing visitor arrivals but also in shaping international travellers’ perceptions of Cambodia. Through this collaboration, we aim to amplify Cambodia’s positive narratives and showcase the Kingdom as a dynamic, welcoming, and diverse destination. Beyond our world-renowned heritage sites, Cambodia offers vibrant urban experiences, authentic cultural encounters, nature-based tourism, and warm hospitality that deserve greater global recognition.”

SIEM REAP, 12 June 2026: Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor promotes a new ‘Path of History’ tour featuring rare photographs, video footage, architectural drawings, and other vintage artefacts that highlight a golden age of travel in Southeast Asia.

A new history book by authors Andreas and Carola Augustin complements the permanent exhibition at Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor in Siem Reap. A Tale of Two Hotels – Raffles in Cambodia showcases the property alongside Raffles Hotel Le Royal, its sister property in Phnom Penh, while chronicling an era of globe-trotting explorers and thrilling discoveries.

The ‘Grand Path of History’ tour and book both trace the early boom years (1900-1940) of international travel, when passengers boarded steamships bound for the East and the first aircraft took to the skies. It is a story of true pioneers, like the Sarkies brothers in Singapore, whose Raffles brand has epitomised luxury travel for nearly 140 years.

The 160-page book, full of colourful photographs and available in hardcover and paperback, brings readers into Cambodia’s two grandest hotels, Hotel Le Royal and Grand Hotel d’Angkor, and recounts the country’s determined efforts to promote its rich cultural heritage abroad, from the Royal Ballet of Cambodia’s striking debut in Paris at the start of the 20th century to Hollywood actor Charlie Chaplin’s visits to Le Royal and Angkor Wat.

The ‘Grand Path of History’ tour is available to in-house guests only, with guided visits led by a Raffles historian. Andreas and Carola Augustin curated the exhibit.

Raffles Hotel Le Royal, which originally opened in 1929, today features 175 rooms and suites that underwent a full refurbishment as part of a meticulous one-year restoration project in 2019. The hotel’s elegant past has been reinterpreted in a bold, contemporary style that is inspired by French colonial, Khmer, and Art Deco influences.

Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor opened in 1932 as a rest stop for archaeologists and adventurers exploring the ancient kingdom of Angkor Wat. The hotel features an authentic expression of 1930s French Art Deco style, with beautifully refined rooms, suites, and villas that blend old-world charm with Cambodian influences and contemporary details.

PHNOM PENH, 10 June 2026: CARDAMOM Tented Camp in Cambodia has announced an Artist-in-Residence Programme running from 21 June to 5 July, 2026.

Khmer artist Im Pesey will take up residency at the nature-first tented camp, which is accessible only by river and surrounded by 18,000 hectares of indigenous forest in Botum Sakor national park in the southwest of the country.

Photo credit Cardamom Tented Camp. Art, nature and imagination: (top) a selection of oil on canvas works by Im Pesey; (bottom) Marsha Niemeijer, Cardamom Tented Camp creative setting, and Im Pesey.

The camp is in advanced discussion with two other Khmer artists for residencies later in the year.

All artists in the programme are being invited to reflect on the surrounding nature in their work.

They will hold at least two workshops with guests during their stay. A dedicated open-air artist’s workspace called the Art Pavilion has been created at the camp.

The inaugural residency with Im Pesey will be entitled “Melody of the Forest.”

The artist said: “Through direct observation and immersion in the camp’s environment, I aim to develop a series of paintings and drawings that translate sensory experiences into expressive visual forms.”

Rather than just creating literal documentation of the forest, Pesey said that his work during the residency will focus on atmosphere and mood, emotional memory and coexistence between humans and nature. While there, Pesey plans to create watercolour paintings, ink-wash studies, mixed-media sketches, and small- to medium-scale paintings.

Workshop participation

Artists will include at least two workshops where guests can join the artist for nature observation and drawing. The workshops are designed for participants of all skill levels.

“We are initially creating the artist-in-residence program for Cambodia-based painters, illustrators, sculptors, filmmakers, researchers, writers and more artists whose work is inspired by themes of nature, conservation and tranquillity,” said the camp’s artist residency director, Marsha Niemeijer.

Niemeijer added: “We want to encourage dialogue between the artist, the environment and our guests and build a dynamic community with creative outcomes inspired by nature.”

The inspiration behind the artist-in-residence programme came, in part, from The Long Run’s 4Cs operational framework for responsible tourism entities. The 4Cs guidelines emphasise cultural goals alongside those of conservation, community, and commerce.

Im Pesey currently shows his work at Phnom Penh’s Gallerist art gallery, which is helping Niemeijer source artists for the residency programme.

Each artist will receive a stipend from Cardamom Tented Camp, accommodation and full board. Artists in the programme will donate at least one artwork created during their stay for permanent display at the camp.

BANGKOK, 14 May 2026: Cambodia’s Cardamom Tented Camp has released its 2025 Impact Report, highlighting measurable progress in rainforest protection, wildlife monitoring and community engagement through its tourism-led conservation model.

Established through a partnership between camp operator YAANA Ventures, Minor Group and Wildlife Alliance, the 12-tent award-winning eco-retreat continues to protect an 18,073-hectare concession within Botum Sakor National Park in southwest Cambodia. Its model channels a percentage of guest stays directly into conservation activities, reinforcing its founding principle: “Your Stay Keeps the Forest Standing.”

Cardamom Tented Camp: Taking a stand and making an impact for the better.

In 2025, the camp supported 620 ranger patrols, including more than 7,700 kilometres on foot through lowland indigenous forest. These efforts led to the removal of 819 snares, 15 illegal incursion camps, and 22 chainsaws. Two endangered Sunda pangolins were rescued during the year.

Wildlife

Wildlife monitoring by Cardamom Tented Camp has increased. With 72 camera traps deployed, including 25 newly installed units, the camp recorded several significant sightings, including the rare marbled cat and the critically endangered white-eared night heron. These findings indicate continued wildlife recovery in the protected area.

The report reflects the camp’s adoption of the 4Cs framework of The Long Run — conservation, community, culture and commerce. Conservation remains the camp’s raison d’etre, supported by community engagement, cultural respect and financial sustainability.

In 2025, Cardamom Tented Camp generated 13,816 kWh of solar energy, up from 9,960 kWh in 2024. This contributed to a 35% reduction in diesel use, falling from 1,400 litres to 915 litres year-on-year. Waste management initiatives progressed, with 882 kg of recyclable materials processed and a staff incentive scheme generating additional income.

Community initiatives expanded beyond the camp. A pilot waste management programme launched in Chi Phat and supported by Cardamom Tented Camp, engaged 20 households in waste separation practices and reduced landfill impact.

Artist- in-residence plans

In 2026/27, Cardamom Tented Camp plans to enhance community and cultural commitments. There will be an artist-in-residence programme inspired by Cambodian culture and traditions.

Camp manager Allan Michaud, who is also a conservationist and wildlife photographer, said: “While we are proud of the measurable progress made in protecting the forest, we aim to embrace the local community more in the camp’s operations and outreach.
PHNOM PENH, 11 March 2026: Cambodia Airways will launch a new service between Phnom Penh and Yangon, starting 20 March 2026, marking a notable expansion for the carrier as it inaugurates direct flights to Yangon, Myanmar.

Initially, the airline schedules a twice-weekly service on Mondays and Fridays, using an A319 for the one-hour and 35-minute flight.

Cambodia Airways quotes a USD145 fare for one way on 20 March, the inaugural flight date. A round-trip fare costs USD265. (Google Flights)

Competition will be tough on the route between Cambodia and Myanmar, which is served exclusively by Myanmar Airways International (MAI). The airline quotes fares between USD130 and USD180 for one-way travel from Phnom Penh to Yangon.

Cambodia Airways will offer just two flights weekly on Monday and Friday, so MAI has the advantage with five flights weekly — Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The only downside is the mix of aircraft types MAI uses on the route, depending on the day of the week — ATR72 with 68 seats. Embraer 190 with 98 seats and an A319 with 134 seats

Flights operate from the recently opened Techo International Airport (KTI) in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Flight schedule

KR791 will depart Phnom Penh (KTI) at 1515 and arrive in Yangon (RGN) at 1650. (Monday and Friday).
KR792 will depart Yangon (RGN) at 1750 and arrive in Phnom Penh (KTI) at 2025.

The resort marks the group’s latest destination-led wellness offering, building on the success of Samanea Beach Resort & Spa in Kep, which launched in 2018 and has since established itself as one of Cambodia’s premier coastal retreats.

Now open for bookings, Samanea Wellness Resort is well-positioned to capitalise on Cambodia’s tourism rebound. In r cent years, the country has welcomed approximately 6.7 million international visitors. Against this backdrop, Pursat Province, known for its rich agricultural heritage and untouched natural beauty, is emerging as an ideal destination for travellers seeking eco-tourism and nature-based escapes. The Cardamom Mountains offer a compelling setting for a wellness-focused retreat.

The new resort features 32 private villas, each designed with wellness and sustainability in mind. Other facilities within the resort include a fitness house, ozone pool, wellness sanctuary, signature restaurant, lounge, and an organic river farm that supports the resort’s farm-to-table philosophy.

PHNOM PENH, 19 January 2026: Air Cambodia launched its new corporate identity last week, marking its first brand transformation since 2009, when the airline entered the Cambodian aviation segment as the national airline.

The new logo is rooted in Khmer culture, inspired by the Giant Ibis (known in Khmer as Tror Yorng), Cambodia’s national bird.

In a statement announcing the new aircraft livery on 15 January, the airline said the “brandmark features a bird’s beak pointing upward at a 45-degree angle, symbolising the airline’s upward trajectory. It combines 18 feathers with the sleek shape of aircraft engine fan blades, representing long-distance endurance and strong power.

“As we transition to this new identity, Air Cambodia is also expanding its fleet. We have recently added three ATR72-600 aircraft and confirmed the purchase of 20 Boeing 737 MAX 8 and 20 COMAC C909 aircraft. Following three consecutive years of profit since 2023, we are ready to soar higher than ever,” the statement concluded.

Earlier this month, Raffles Hotel Le Royal launched an art exhibition titled ‘I Spy – The Magic of Raffles’, which invited guests to look closer at unique details of the storied hotel, a longstanding cultural landmark with a strong commitment to community, education and the arts. The children’s artworks from the exhibition will be part of the auction on 24 November.

As part of the project, Raffles Hotel Le Royal organised an art competition for 25 children from Sunrise Cambodia. Guided by renowned Cambodian artist Chhim Sothy and supported by fellow artists Li Ming Hang and Emmeline Mulder, the children were invited to artistically interpret ‘The Magic of Raffles’ in their own way.

On the recent Children’s Day, five outstanding artworks were selected and transformed into limited-edition postcards, now available at the Raffles Boutique, with proceeds benefiting Sunrise Cambodia’s creative education programmes.
