JOHOR BAHRU, Malaysia, 10 April 2026: The Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) strengthened its regional growth strategy on Thursday through a high-impact Business-to-Business (B2B) engagement session at the Grand Paragon Hotel, Johor Bahru.

By bringing together Langkawi’s tourism innovators and key hosted buyers, this initiative serves as a cornerstone of LADA’s mission to elevate the island’s visibility in short-haul markets while fostering the professional collaborations necessary for sustainable tourism growth.

The importance of this engagement is underscored by the deep-rooted travel links between Langkawi and its southern neighbours, which remain vital drivers of the island’s economy. These markets continue to demonstrate remarkable resilience; as of Q3 2025, Langkawi recorded 52,867 visitors from Johor and 48,119 from Singapore. To capitalise on this momentum, the B2B programme serves as a dedicated growth engine, enabling industry players to move beyond general promotion and identify strategic partners to actively expand Langkawi’s marketing reach.

By facilitating these direct, face-to-face engagements, LADA creates a productive environment for business negotiations and the development of joint travel packages. This collaborative approach allows service providers to align their offerings with precision, responding to the evolving demands of modern travellers with greater agility.

As these partnerships solidify, they unlock access to higher-value segments, including the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) sector, premium family travel and niche special-interest groups.

Building on these professional synergies, the resulting cross-border packages further enhance Langkawi’s regional appeal by offering travellers more structured, seamless and value-driven experiences. Such curated offerings provide the commercial depth required to encourage longer stays and drive repeat visitation, which is essential for a sustainable tourism ecosystem. These efforts are aligned with the national agenda, directly supporting the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign while reinforcing the “Naturally Langkawi” brand on the global stage.

The success of this strategy is further supported by direct connectivity between Langkawi, Johor and Singapore, which remains a key driver of visitor arrivals. When paired with focused promotional efforts, this accessibility ensures Langkawi maintains a strong competitive position within the regional landscape. Collectively, these initiatives represent a significant step towards achieving Langkawi’s target of 3.65 million tourist arrivals by 2026.

In 2025, Langkawi was also voted the #2 Top Island in Asia in the Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards and featured among Asia-Pacific’s best island destinations in the Travel + Leisure Luxury Awards Asia Pacific, reflecting the island’s continued appeal among international travellers for its scenery, nature, and experiences.

The island’s tourism growth reflects this continued appeal. In 2025, Langkawi recorded 3.2 million visitor arrivals and generated RM8.3 billion in tourism-related revenue, underscoring its growing appeal as a premier island destination in Southeast Asia. That same year, Langkawi welcomed 370,395 visitors from the United Kingdom and Europe, reaffirming the region’s importance as one of the island’s key long-haul markets.

While awards and rankings highlight Langkawi’s growing international recognition, what brings travellers back to the island year after year is something less measurable — space, nature, and a slower pace of travel that feels increasingly rare.

Unlike destinations built around crowds and packed itineraries, Langkawi offers travellers something different: quiet beaches, mangrove forests, rainforest-covered mountains, and long stretches of road where the journey itself becomes part of the experience. It is a destination that invites visitors to slow down rather than rush, to explore rather than tick off attractions.

Langkawi is also home to the Langkawi UNESCO Global Geopark, the first UNESCO Global Geopark in Southeast Asia, recognised for its geological heritage, biodiversity, and conservation efforts across the Langkawi archipelago of 99 islands.

As travel trends continue shifting toward nature, wellness, and more meaningful travel experiences, Langkawi’s continued recognition across major international travel awards reflects a broader shift in what travellers are looking for today — not just destinations to visit, but places to reconnect, reset, and experience travel at a different pace. Rather than competing to be the busiest destination, Langkawi has quietly built a reputation as a destination defined not only by its landscapes but by how it makes people feel.

About Naturally Langkawi
Naturally, Langkawi is a story 550 million years in the making. It has a nature that is beautifully unique, wonderfully rare, and vastly accessible.
BERLIN, 6 March 2026: Langkawi is redefining how it presents itself to the world, unveiling a refreshed destination positioning at ITB Berlin 2026 that reflects the island’s evolving role within the global travel landscape.

An archipelago of 99 islands off Malaysia’s northwest coast, Langkawi has long been recognised for its natural beauty, biodiversity and geological heritage. Through this renewed destination narrative, the island is sharpening how it introduces these strengths to international audiences.

In 2025, Langkawi recorded 3.2 million visitor arrivals, generating RM8.3 billion in tourism-related revenue. That same year, the island welcomed 370,395 visitors from the UK and Europe, reaffirming the continued importance of long-haul markets within Langkawi’s tourism mix. Europe remains a core source market for the destination, supported by growing interest from emerging regions driven by demand for slower travel, longer stays and experience-rich itineraries.

A broader expression of the destination

Langkawi’s refreshed brand positioning reflects the island’s ability to serve a wide range of travel needs within a single destination. From luxury and wellness experiences to long-stay travel, remote working lifestyles and independent exploration, Langkawi offers choice without sacrificing its natural character. Experiences unfold across varied landscapes. Rainforest paths traverse lowland areas and rise toward elevated terrain, while mangrove networks provide quiet routes for exploration by boat or kayak. Panoramic viewpoints at the Langkawi SkyCab and Sky Bridge offer sweeping views across the island and sea.

International recognition continues to evolve, with Langkawi ranked second among the Top Islands in Asia in the Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards 2025.

Langkawi’s destination story is closely tied to its natural systems and geological past. Surrounding waters support marine life shaped by mangroves and reefs, with dolphins frequently sighted along the coast. Recent years have also recorded increased turtle nesting and sightings of Bryde’s whales, reflecting the vitality of the island’s marine environment.

On land, Langkawi is home to more than 200 bird species, including the Oriental Pied Hornbill, Wreathed Hornbill and the rare Great Hornbill. Beneath this biodiversity lie some of Southeast Asia’s oldest rock formations, where ancient fossils reveal the island’s deep geological history.

Ongoing research by Malaysian scientists continues to uncover new species, reinforcing Langkawi’s status as a UNESCO Global Geopark.

Guided by the principles of conservation and low-impact development, tourism growth across the island is shaped by environmental stewardship, responsible resort design, and community-based initiatives — aligning with global travellers’ expectations for sustainability-led destinations.

At ITB Berlin, Langkawi engaged with international media, travel trade and industry partners to explore long-term collaborations that support meaningful storytelling, sustained visibility and responsible growth for the destination in the years ahead.

About Naturally Langkawi
Naturally, Langkawi is a story 550 million years in the making. It has a nature that is beautifully unique, wonderfully rare, and vastly accessible. It envelopes the 99 islands and the people who live there, creating a culture rich with stories as unique as the archipelago itself.

A land steeped with captivating legends, myths and folklore as interesting as the people who tell them.

It is a place full of diverse, incredible experiences where moments become memories, naturally.

LANGKAWI, 26 February: An air-conditioned mini ferry service from the Kuah Tourist Jetty to Pulau Tuba, launched last October, has been declared a success, boosting tourist visits that have generated valuable revenue for the island’s local community.

Pulau Tuba, a serene “hidden” island just a 15-minute boat ride from the main Langkawi resorts, is famous for being one of the few inhabited islands in the archipelago group that has resisted the heavy commercialisation. It’s Langkawi 30 years ago: Slow-paced, rustic, and full of traditional kampung (village) charm.

New mini ferry service to Pulau Tuba attracts Langkawi visitors.

Bernama reported earlier this week on the progress of the ferry service that has served the Tuba and Straits Islands Community Cooperative since last October, with a 100-passenger capacity per trip.

Introduced by the Community Cooperative of Tuba Islands and Selat Bhd (Bestuba), the Mini Ferry Service has strengthened Pulau Tuba’s tourism appeal, with passenger numbers reaching around 6,000 per month, especially during school holidays and long weekends, according to the Bernama report.

Pulau Tuba is famous for its traditional fishing-village atmosphere and natural beauty, with potential to be an added-value tourist attraction when combined with visits to Langkawi.

How to Get There

To reach Pulau Tuba, you must take a boat from the main island of Langkawi.

Departure Point: Boats typically depart from the Marble Jetty (near the Kuah Jetty) in Kuah.

Boat Ride: The journey takes approximately 15-20 minutes. Local boats often wait for enough passengers before departing, or you can charter a private boat.

What makes Pulau Tuba special?

The “Time Travel” Vibe: Unlike Pantai Cenang’s bustling bars, Pulau Tuba is a quiet fishing and farming community. You’ll see water buffaloes roaming paddy fields and traditional wooden houses.

Eco-Tourism: It is part of the Dayang Bunting Marble Geoforest Park. It features rare geological formations, limestone caves (such as Gua Kelawar, or Bat Cave), and dense mangroves.

The Bridge to Dayang Bunting: A colourful bridge connects Pulau Tuba to the neighbouring Pulau Dayang Bunting, allowing you to explore both islands by motorbike or bicycle easily.

Top things to do

Rent a bicycle: This is the best way to see the island. The roads are winding and quiet, perfect for a leisurely ride through the villages.

Try the “Mee Udang” (Prawn Noodles): The island is famous for this dish, featuring fresh, giant prawns caught by local fishermen.

Hiking: You can trek up to the Bukit Kecik viewpoint or explore the “Valley of the Bees” for incredible panoramic views.

Bird Watching: It’s a haven for hornbills and Brahminy kites (the reddish-brown eagles Langkawi is named after).

Homestays

Tuba Beach Resort: One of the more established spots. It has colourful chalets right by the water and a very relaxed vibe.

Farid Homestay: Great if you want a more authentic, local family-run experience.

Tuba Langkawi (Homestay): Often praised for its hospitality and proximity to the best “Mee Udang” spots.

The event was officiated by Datuk Seri Iskandar Bin Datuk Haji Mohd Kaus, Chief Executive Officer of LADA, and witnessed by invited dignitaries, including representatives from the federal and state levels, Members of Parliament, State Assemblymen, district administration, and local authorities.

The Langkawi Calendar of Events 2026 presents a year-long programme of 151 cultural, community, sporting and visitor-focused experiences curated to sustain momentum throughout the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign year.

Designed with both travellers and the tourism industry in mind, the calendar supports consistent visitor flows, encourages longer stays, and creates opportunities for local operators to participate meaningfully in the island’s tourism ecosystem.

LANGKAWI, Malaysia, 5 December 2025: Langkawi is set to welcome a brand-new wave of international travellers with the launch of Batik Air’s first direct flight connecting Tashkent, Uzbekistan, to Langkawi, beginning 14 December 2025.

This milestone route represents a vital step in strengthening tourism links between Central Asia and Malaysia, making Langkawi’s world-renowned beaches, rainforests, and island adventures more accessible than ever.

The direct connection reduces total travel time to just six hours, offering travellers a smooth and convenient journey to one of Southeast Asia’s most breathtaking holiday destinations.

This new route is the result of a strategic collaboration between Langkawi Development Authority (LADA), Tourism Malaysia (TM), and Batik Air, demonstrating a joint commitment to elevating Langkawi’s visibility in emerging global markets.

To support and strengthen this new connectivity, LADA hosted a series of business-to-business engagements in Tashkent and Samarkand last month. The sales mission reached out to industry players from both countries, with 16 Langkawi-based tourism businesses participating. The mission drew strong attendance from Uzbekistan, with approximately 130 travel agents in Tashkent and 50 in Samarkand participating in sales and networking sessions. The engagements served as a platform to build partnerships, co-create travel packages, and accelerate interest in Langkawi among Central Asian travellers.

Discover Langkawi — Malaysia’s Island Paradise

Known as the ‘Jewel of Kedah’, Langkawi is a tropical archipelago of 99 islands, each offering its own blend of turquoise seas, powder-soft white-sand beaches, and lush rainforests. The island is home to world-class beach resorts and a warm, welcoming culture rooted in authentic Malaysian hospitality. It’s a destination that offers the perfect balance of adventure, relaxation, and meaningful experiences for families, couples, and groups of friends.

Langkawi is a duty-free island, inviting visitors to enjoy a variety of shopping experiences with unbeatable prices across a wide range of brands.

Blessed with a unique heritage of a 550-million-year-old geological landscape, travellers can explore ancient formations and protected geoparks that make every visit both enriching and unforgettable.

Naturally Langkawi: Expanding International Connectivity

The launch of the Tashkent–Langkawi direct flight supports Naturally Langkawi’s ongoing mission to introduce the island’s rich biodiversity, cultural warmth, and natural wonders to international audiences. With this new route, Langkawi opens its doors even wider to travellers from Central Asia, offering a destination where adventure meets serenity, and where every moment presents the opportunity to create new stories and cherished memories.

Travellers from Uzbekistan can now book seats on Batik Air’s new direct Tashkent–Langkawi service and be among the first to experience the unmatched beauty, warmth, and hospitality of Malaysia’s island paradise.
