{"id":204894,"date":"2022-05-19T02:15:09","date_gmt":"2022-05-18T19:15:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ttrweekly.com\/site\/?p=204894"},"modified":"2022-05-19T03:28:33","modified_gmt":"2022-05-18T20:28:33","slug":"domestic-travellers-revisit-travel-agencies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ttrweekly.com\/site\/2022\/05\/domestic-travellers-revisit-travel-agencies\/","title":{"rendered":"Domestic travellers revisit travel agencies"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>SINGAPORE, 19 May: More travellers are likely to revisit\ntravel agencies for their domestic travel plans across five Southeast Asian\nnations, according to findings in a Milieu Insight study released on Wednesday <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Milieu Insight, a Southeast Asian consumer research and analytics firm, released findings* of domestic travel plans for summer vacation across the Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia and Thailand as Covid-19 restrictions ease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.ttrweekly.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/2-5.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-204895 lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Respondents from the Philippines and Indonesia show the highest willingness to embark on domestic travel as restrictions across Asia are being lifted. But the study suggests that 80% of domestic travellers in the Philippines, Indonesia, and Vietnam indicated they would likely use travel agencies to expedite their domestic travel and vacation plans. If so, that bucks a long-term trend that has seen travellers deserting travel agency services to manage their own travel plans, particularly in the domestic travel market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the other hand, 40% of respondents from the Philippines\nremain highly concerned for their safety even towards domestic travel, fearing\na resurgence in Covid-19 cases could shut down resorts and prevent them from\nreturning to their homes and work. Domestic travel within the Philippines is\nstill only limited to select destinations and with restrictions (as of 11 May\n2022).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Travellers from Indonesia (89%), Vietnam (83%) and Thailand\n(79%) have expressed the least concern for themselves when it comes to domestic\ntravel. This willingness to travel is also reflected in the domestic travel\npolicies of these countries, as there are minimal restrictions involved in\ntheir inter-state\/inter-provincial travel protocols. In February 2022, Vietnam\nrecorded 9.6 million domestic travellers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When planning for their upcoming summer vacation, most\ntravellers across all five countries are looking to unwind and reconnect with\ntheir families after two years of pandemic isolation (Philippines 83%,\nIndonesia 82%, Vietnam 78%, Malaysia 81%, Thailand 79%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hotels remain the top choice for accommodation across all\nfive countries, with half of the travellers in Vietnam also showing a\npreference for resorts, and more than half of the respondents from Thailand\nsaid they preferred pool villas (54%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Travel agencies make a comeback<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite only travelling within their home countries, most\nSoutheast Asian travellers are prepared to engage with a travel agency to plan\ntheir domestic travel. Especially those from Indonesia (85%), the Philippines\n(82%), and Vietnam (83%). Engaging with a travel agent may ensure a less\nstressful trip, creating more time and leisure for travellers to enjoy their\nfirst post-pandemic vacation with their loved ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Other key findings<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The highest demand for domestic travel is evident in the\nPhilippines and Indonesia (89%), and Vietnam (83%).
