The intention is to restore flight networks\nwithin Southeast Asia to pre-pandemic levels by the end of the year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.ttrweekly.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Puttipong-Prasarttong-Osot-600x400.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-204913 lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 600px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 600\/400;\" \/><figcaption><em>Association president Puttipong Prasarttong-Osot<\/em><br> <em> Photo: https:\/\/www.flightglobal.com. <\/em> <\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>In a report posted on the National News Bureau of Thailand&#8217;s\nwebsite, the AAT president noted that the seven-member airlines* are speeding\nup plans to reopen local and international routes first in Southeast Asia to\nencourage short-haul travel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thai Vietjet so far has been the leader in opening routes to\nneighbouring countries during the first quarter. It recently introduced flights\nfrom Bangkok to Singapore and, in early June, will open a new route from Phuket\nto Singapore. It already services key destinations in Vietnam. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Puttipong told NNT he was confident that more routes would\nbe available during the remaining seven months of 2022. According to the AAT\npresident, reopening the nation to tourists from regions such as Japan, India,\nEurope, and the Middle East will play a crucial role in the recovery of the\naviation industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He added that \u201cshort-haul\u201d trips should make a strong\ncomeback this year, while \u201clong haul\u201d travel kick should resume in early 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bangkok Airways reported it had resumed domestic flights\nfrom Bangkok to Samui, Phuket, Chiang Mai and Lampang during the first quarter\nof the year. In addition, it reintroduced flights on the Samui &#8211; Phuket route\nand from Samui to U-Tapao, near Pattaya. It has also restarted flights from\nBangkok to Phnom Penh, the capital of neighbouring Cambodia.
