The HKTB shared insights into the latest tourism trends and its work plan for the coming year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.ttrweekly.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/1-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-204520 lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" \/><figcaption><em>Hong Kong Tourism Board Chairman Y K Pang (left) and Executive Director Dane Cheng (right) shared the revival plan of HKTB with 3,200 trade representatives, highlighting Hong Kong\u2019s vibrant developments and new experiences.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>In his opening remarks, HKTB Chairman&nbsp; Y K Pang focused on Hong Kong\u2019s path to\nnormality. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe fifth wave of the pandemic is subsiding,\u201d he said.\n\u201cHong Kong\u2019s daily life and economic activities are now gradually returning to\nnormal, allowing us to stage large-scale events and prepare to welcome back\nvisitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThroughout the pandemic, Hong Kong never stopped building\nand upgrading its tourism infrastructure. We will see the grand opening of the\nHong Kong Palace Museum this summer, while the third runway at Hong Kong\nInternational Airport is expected to go into service within the next couple of\nyears. With these new infrastructure elements and the support of the Central\nand Hong Kong SAR Governments, Hong Kong\u2019s competitive edge has held firm, and\nwe can head towards new horizons with confidence.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In his presentation of the work plan for the coming year,\nHKTB executive director Dane Cheng described how the HKTB will focus on Hong\nKong&#8217;s profile globally by launching &#8220;Hong Kong Summer Treats.&#8221; The\ncampaign will provide a wide range of discounts and promotional offerings and\nwill begin with &#8220;Arts in Hong Kong&#8221; \u2013 a campaign that supports\ninternational art and cultural events, such as Art Basel, which will return in\na physical format.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When social distancing measures are further relaxed, the\nHKTB will arrange more world-class events in phases, including the Hong Kong\nWine &amp; Dine Festival and Hong Kong WinterFest, and give its support to\nother high-profile events such as the Hong Kong Sevens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cheng stressed the importance of ensuring a recovery at home\nin the run-up to the return of worldwide visitors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThese promotions will generate a positive ambience in Hong\nKong and demonstrate how we have returned to normal. The HKTB will then launch\nextensive promotions, including the tactical \u2018Open House Hong Kong\u2019 campaign,\nto welcome back visitors when the time is right.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Guest speakers from major organizations also outlined new\ndevelopments to enhance Hong Kong&#8217;s world-class tourism infrastructure further.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The West Kowloon Cultural District is one of Hong Kong&#8217;s\nmajor arts and cultural projects. Its contemporary art museum M+ opened last\nyear, and the Hong Kong Palace Museum will welcome its first visitors this\nsummer. Speaking at the event, West Kowloon Cultural District chief executive\nofficer Betty Fung said: &#8220;As a unique cultural hub with unrivalled\nconnectivity in Hong Kong and Asia, WKCD presents the best of the eastern and\nwestern culture to visitors, from Chinese arts and antiquities to contemporary\nvisual culture, and offers visitors a holistic experience blending arts and\nculture with retail, dining and entertainment.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hong Kong International Airport plays a pivotal role in\nmaintaining the city&#8217;s status as a leading international aviation hub. Airport\nAuthority Hong Kong executive director (airport operations) Vivian Cheung said:\n&#8220;In addition to maintaining our aviation hub status, our strategy is to\ntransform Hong Kong International Airport from a city airport into an Airport\nCity, developing ourselves into a destination in itself for visitors. The\nAirport City aims to attract global visitors through its wide range of\nofferings in retail, dining, entertainment and leisure while providing a business\nplatform through its convention and exhibition facilities. In parallel, we are\nfurther enhancing the airport&#8217;s sea and land connectivity with the\nGuangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, to facilitate a seamless journey\nfor the 70 million people in the region to visit the Airport City.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The integration of culture, sports, and tourism is a key\ndevelopment direction. Kai Tak Sports Park general director (commercial)&nbsp; James Irvine, said: &#8220;As one of the most\nsignificant sports infrastructures in Hong Kong, Kai Tak Sports Park will add\nvibrancy to the city&#8217;s dynamic tourism landscape with its world-class sports,\nleisure and entertainment experiences.
