Music lovers can expect\nan<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;eclectic mix of jazz musicians, rappers and\nDJs from various countries, including the USA, Hungary, Singapore, France, and\nMalaysia, lighting up the Borneo Jazz stage to celebrate cultural diversity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Details of the&nbsp; annual event were confirmed on Wednesday by Yang Berhormat Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, the Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts along with Yang Berhormat Datuk Sebastian Ting Chew Yew, Deputy Minister of Tourism Sarawak, Yang Berhormat Dennis Ngau, Chairman of Sarawak Tourism Board,&nbsp; Hii Chang Kee, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak,&nbsp;Puan Sharzede Datu Haji Salleh Askor, Chief Executive Officer of Sarawak Tourism Board, Captain Nasaruddin A Bakar, Chief Operating Officer of MASwings representing Malaysia Aviation Group and Stephanie Kuan representing artistic director No Black Tie Presents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.ttrweekly.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/BJ2022-200x600.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-204073 lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 200px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 200\/600;\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry\nand Performing Arts said: \u201cWith the theme \u201cJazz in the Jungle\u201d, this year\u2019s\nBorneo Jazz is about rejuvenating the jazz scene while being surrounded by the\nwonders of nature that are in abundance in Miri, the gateway to Northern\nSarawak.&nbsp;&nbsp; As we all know, artists and\nmusicians have all been affected by the lockdowns, so the Borneo Jazz festival\nserves as the perfect platform to rejuvenate, rediscover, rekindle, and rebuild\nthe interrupted jazz connection for the past two years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe hybrid concert is the best way to go\nthis year based on the positive response we have received from the Borneo Jazz\nVirtual Experience last year in 2021. The Borneo Jazz Virtual Experience 2021\nthree-day journey garnered 244,637 online viewers from 43 countries. We hope to\nhave a wider outreach to international audiences encompassing more countries\nthis year.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sarawak Tourism Board Chief Executive\nOfficer Puan Sharzede Datu Haji Salleh Askor said: &#8220;We are pleased to once\nagain bring music lovers in Malaysia and around the world physically back to\nthe Borneo Jazz festival in Miri, the northern gateway of Sarawak.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLast year, the music festival reached a\nbroader audience given the virtual format, and we hope to continue this\ntraction once again this year. Our goal is to provide our Sarawakian artists\nwith an even bigger platform for their artistry to be recognised around the\nworld.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The announcement was followed by the\nunveiling of Sarawak Tourism\u2019s \u2018More to Discover\u2019 livery on three MASwings ATR\n72-500 aircraft as part of the one-year collaboration with the Sarawak Tourism\nBoard. The interior of the aircraft is also painted with visuals of Sarawak\u2019s\ntourist attractions such as events, food and culture and ecotourism\ndestinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Building up sustainable musical tourism in Sarawak<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur focus apart from positioning Borneo\nJazz as a top-notch Jazz Festival in the region is to empower and raise\ncultural awareness through Borneo Jazz Talent Search and Borneo Jazz FAB LAB\nplatform,&nbsp; providing performance and\nnetworking opportunities, giving awards and recognition, as we strongly believe\nin promoting sustainability in the growth of arts &amp; culture within the\nlocal community, and the importance of cultural exchange in fostering greater\nunderstanding between people of different cultural backgrounds which aligns\nwith the STB\u2019s and the state\u2019s sustainable journey,\u201d said Borneo Jazz festival\n2022 artistic director Evelyn Hii.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Borneo Jazz will feature performances by\nthe winners of the nationwide Borneo Jazz Talent Search launched on 1 April for\nDJ, Jazz and Open categories. Together with Borneo Jazz Festival FAB Lab 2022,\naspiring musicians will be given a chance to grow their musical talent\nalongside renowned local and international artists while also contributing to\nthe growth of Miri as the region&#8217;s jazz centre. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additional activities around the Borneo\nJazz festival will be the Eco Drum and Eco-Art projects; both aimed to raise\nawareness towards creating a more eco-friendly and sustainable city. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Bundled deals and savings with Malaysia\nAirlines<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To drive visitors and inbound traffic to\nSarawak, Malaysia Airlines, the national carrier under Malaysia Aviation Group\n(MAG), has been named the official airline partner of the Borneo Jazz Music\nFestival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the official airline partner for the\nBorneo Jazz festival, Malaysia Airlines and supported by its sister company\nFirefly will offer attractive deals of up to 15% discount on flights from\nPeninsular Malaysia, London, Australia and some ASEAN destinations to cities in\nSarawak. Firefly will fly passengers from Penang to Kuching via its jet\noperations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To enjoy the discount, music lovers joining\nthe Borneo Jazz festival must insert a unique promo code (BORNEO22) between 25\nApril 2022 and 15 May 2022 for travels between 1 and 30 June 2022 to enjoy\nsignificant savings. For the\npublic category, 1 Day Pass is priced at RM128 per ticket, 2 Day Pass is RM228\nper ticket, and 3 Day Pass is RM338 per ticket. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As for students and senior citizens, 1 Day\nPass is priced at RM88 per ticket, 2 Day Pass is RM128 per ticket, and 3 Day\nPass is RM188 per ticket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For those who want to enjoy BJ virtually,\ntickets are priced at RM25 per one-hour block.
