Other cities participating in the\nGDS-Index include Gothenburg, Copenhagen, and Glasgow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.ttrweekly.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Singapore-600x355.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-157739 lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 600px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 600\/355;\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The GDS-Index is a sustainability benchmarking and\nimprovement programme for destinations around the world. It is used to assess\nthe current social and environmental performance of a destination annually and,\nin turn, drive improved performance. The GDS-Index is a collaborative\npartnership between ICCA, ICCA&#8217;s Scandinavian Chapter, IMEX, ECM, and MCI\nGroup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Building on Singapore\u2019s identity as a City in Nature,\nSingapore\u2019s participation in the GDS-Index is aligned with the vision and\ntargets of SGP2030, which has charted Singapore\u2019s ambitions and targets over\nthe next 10 years, strengthening Singapore\u2019s commitments under the UN\u2019s 2030\nSustainable Development Agenda and Paris Agreement. The commitment supports\nSingapore to be a more sustainable urban destination and positions it to\nachieve its long-term net-zero emissions aspiration as soon as viable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>STB became a Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC)\nmember in October 2021 and strongly supported local tourism businesses in their\nsustainability journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Sustainability is a key priority for Singapore tourism because it is vital to our future, and travellers have become increasingly aware of the impact of their consumption,&#8221; said&nbsp; STB chief executive Keith Tan. &#8220;Becoming a leading sustainable urban destination requires a long-term commitment from both the government and industry. That is why Singapore&#8217;s participation in the GDS-Index is important.
