{"id":203600,"date":"2022-04-11T06:15:15","date_gmt":"2022-04-10T23:15:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ttrweekly.com\/site\/?p=203600"},"modified":"2022-04-11T07:18:23","modified_gmt":"2022-04-11T00:18:23","slug":"sabah-vidoes-a-reel-success","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ttrweekly.com\/site\/2022\/04\/sabah-vidoes-a-reel-success\/","title":{"rendered":"Sabah vidoes a reel success"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>KOTA KINABALU, 11 April 2022:\u00a0The Sabah Tourism Board applauds local filmmakers for their efforts to promote the state and its rural destinations in their work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last week, a group led by film producer Chester Pang met\nwith Sabah Tourism chairman Datuk Joniston Bangkuai to discuss the state&#8217;s film\ntourism potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.ttrweekly.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/STB-2-600x311.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-203640 lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 600px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 600\/311;\" \/><figcaption><em>Datuk Joniston Bangkuai receiving \u2018Craze Below The Wind\u2019 promotional merchandise from Chester Pang.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>They also discussed their plans to showcase Sabah\u2019s charms\nthrough movies and the making of a promotional video that would spark the\npublic\u2019s interest in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A video clip <em><strong>&#8216;Discover Kiulu&#8217;<\/strong><\/em> and a feature-length Mandarin comedy film <em><strong>&#8216;Craze Below The Wind&#8217;<\/strong><\/em> are among the works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.ttrweekly.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/STB-4-600x336.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-203641 lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 600px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 600\/336;\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is a good effort to raise awareness of Sabah&#8217;s\nnumerous attractions and stimulate people&#8217;s curiosity about them,\u201d said\nJoniston, who is also Assistant Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cKiulu, for example, has been chosen by the state government\nas a model for rural tourism, alongside Kadamaian. Kiulu will soon have a\ntourism information centre, where a video clip like this one can be displayed\nto showcase what Kiulu has to offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe also hope to see other places featured in film\nproduction works. While most rural products are identical, local film producers\nmust also find new attractions to focus on,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a part of Borneo, Joniston said Sabah needs to\ndistinguish itself from Sarawak and Kalimantan, where construction of the\ncountry&#8217;s future capital Nusantara is ongoing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He added that Sabah Tourism is delighted to work with film\nproducers to promote the distinctive features and aspects of Sabah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Present at the meeting were Froggy Planet producer and director\nKatak Chua, Kiulu Tourism Association deputy president Lasmen Lopog, Pro-Merge\nVision representative, and local film director Ramli Carlo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The filming for \u2018Discover Kiulu\u2019 should be done by the end\nof the month, said Chester, who is a producer from Can Bah Production. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said the 90-second promotional video would also be\ndisplayed at the Sabah International Convention Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As for the 90-minute \u2018Craze Below The Wind\u2019, it will be\nreleased in May. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Produced by Can Bah Production, the \u2018Craze Below The Wind\u2019\ntells a story of two siblings who get into mischief and are forced to journey\nacross Sabah with a mysterious suitcase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chester stated that the film, which release had been\npostponed since 2020 due to the pandemic, will be screened in 53 cinemas,\nincluding in Brunei.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, Katak said the film garnered a positive response\nduring its test showing, with seven out of 10 respondents expressing an\ninterest in visiting Sabah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We have engaged 52 crew, and 80 per cent of them are\nSabahans.
