However, in 2018, AAHK acquired ownership of the company\nthat manages and operates AWE and now takes over the remaining equity in the\ngovernment hands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.ttrweekly.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Airport_Authority_Hong_Kong-600x354.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-203377 lazyload\" width=\"300\" height=\"177\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 300px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 300\/177;\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>In its latest announcement, AAHK says it will go ahead with\nAWE&#8217;s Phase 2 development. On completion, it will house Hong Kong&#8217;s largest\nindoor multipurpose performance arena with over 20,000 seats and\nstate-of-the-art facilities. The Phase 2 expansion will also increase AWE&#8217;s\nexhibition space to 100,000 square metres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AWE is a prime venue in Hong Kong for conventions,\nexhibitions, sports, entertainment events, business showcases, and premium\nconsumer-oriented events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is part of SKYCITY, a core element of the Airport City\ndevelopment strategy that includes 11 SKIES, Hong Kong&#8217;s largest retail, dining\nand entertainment complex, and offices and hotels.
