KUCHING, 26 June 2026: The third edition of the Rainforest Youth Summit (RAYS) 2026 officially opened on Wednesday in Kuching, bringing together youth leaders, advocates, researchers, students, emerging policymakers and sustainability practitioners from across ASEAN and beyond for three days of dialogue.

Held from 24 to 26 June 2026 under the theme “Youth: Many Ways, One Planet,” RAYS 2026 reinforces Sarawak’s growing role as a regional platform for youth leadership, sustainability dialogue, environmental stewardship and responsible tourism.

YB Dato Sri Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak, and Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Sarawak, delivers his officiating remarks during the opening ceremony of the Rainforest Youth Summit (RAYS) 2026 at Voco Hotel Kuching, Sarawak.

This year’s participation reflects a strong diversity of youth voices from across all 11 ASEAN countries and the wider international community, including new representation from Timor-Leste, alongside delegates from varied disciplines, communities and lived experiences.

The summit builds on the success of its previous editions, which collectively convened youth participants from 37 countries, engaged over 80 organisations and brought together diverse voices across disciplines and regions. In its third edition, RAYS continues to evolve beyond dialogue by strengthening youth participation in climate governance, applied learning and long-term sustainability action.

The opening ceremony was officiated by YB Dato Sri Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak and Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Sarawak.

In his officiating remarks, he said: “The future cannot be built for youth without youth. RAYS 2026 is a meeting point between youth leadership, environmental stewardship, indigenous knowledge, science, creativity, policy, culture and community, a platform for young people to move from concern to contribution.”

Organised by the Sarawak Tourism Board, RAYS 2026 is designed as a platform for youth, Indigenous leaders, scientists, and changemakers to exchange knowledge and co-create solutions.

Throughout the three-day programme, delegates will participate in keynote dialogues, plenary sessions, workshops, youth-led discussions, cultural exchanges, networking sessions and curated experiences aimed at translating ideas into practical action.

YB Dato Sri Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak, engages warmly with local and international youth delegates at the Rainforest Youth Summit (RAYS) 2026 in Kuching, Sarawak.

“RAYS 2026 is more than a three-day summit. It is a pathway for learning, leadership and action, where young people are not only here to receive knowledge, but to bring knowledge, build relationships and carry their commitments forward,” said Dr Sharzede Datu Haji Salleh Askor, Chief Executive Officer of Sarawak Tourism Board.

A key highlight of this year’s summit is the Planet Futures Forum, a collaborative climate simulation that enables youth to step into the realities of how climate decisions are shaped. Through scenario-based negotiation, systems thinking, and collective decision-making, participants will explore the trade-offs, constraints, and shared responsibilities involved in real-world climate governance.

The forum is designed to build youth capacity in design thinking, negotiation and collective decision-making, while contributing towards the development of the RAYS Youth Declaration.

The summit will also produce the inaugural RAYS Youth Declaration, capturing the aspirations, commitments and recommendations of young people towards a more sustainable future. The declaration will serve as a reference point for continued youth engagement, reflecting the summit’s commitment to ensuring youth voices are heard beyond the three-day programme.

RAYS 2026 also marks the launch of the RAYS Fellowship Programme, a 12-month leadership journey for selected young leaders focused on collective climate governance and applied action.

Rooted in the principle of “Many Ways, One Planet,” the fellowship will support fellows in practising shared leadership, engaging with Indigenous and local knowledge-holders, contributing to governance proposals, and translating summit dialogue into action through guided monthly learning, applied governance work and collaborative cohort engagement.

Together, the Planet Futures Forum, RAYS Youth Declaration and RAYS Fellowship Programme demonstrate the long-term direction of RAYS as a platform that extends beyond a one-off summit.

They reflect Sarawak’s commitment to nurturing a generation of youth leaders equipped to collaborate across borders, cultures and disciplines while shaping practical solutions for climate resilience, biodiversity protection and sustainable development.

As part of the programme, RAYS delegates will participate in selected cultural and experiential activities linked to Sarawak’s broader cultural and sustainability ecosystem, including curated experiences that showcase the connections among rainforest, community, and culture.

Delegates will also attend the opening day of the Rainforest World Music Festival 2026, highlighting the intersection of culture, community and conservation.

Funded and organised by the State Government of Sarawak and Sarawak Tourism Board, RAYS 2026 is endorsed by the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Sarawak, and supported by the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, Sarawak, together with strategic partners ASEAN, Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), and UN Tourism.

The accolade was announced at a ceremony in Dublin, Ireland, where the airline was recognised for consistently delivering exceptional customer experience.

Based on verified passenger feedback, Emirates achieved outstanding scores across five pillars – seat comfort, cabin service, food and beverage, entertainment, and connectivity.

Emirates scores highly for seat comfort

Whether travelling on an Airbus A380, A350 or Boeing 777, Emirates customers consistently praise the airline’s commitment to comfort. Thoughtfully designed cabins, generous personal space and ergonomic seating combine to create an environment where passengers can relax, work or sleep with ease, even on the world’s longest routes.

From October onwards, Emirates Economy Class customers will benefit from the introduction of new lightweight Safran Z400 seats, specifically designed for comfort and convenience, featuring an adjustable eight-way headrest for enhanced neck and head support.

Each seat offers greater privacy and converts into a fully lie-flat bed, complete with a dedicated mattress and pillow. Wireless charging, customisable mood lighting, enhanced storage, minibar amenities and multiple charging options further elevate the onboard experience.

Emirates First Class continues to set the benchmark for luxury air travel, with fully enclosed private suites described by travellers as a ‘hotel room in the sky’. Designed to maximise privacy and wellbeing, the suites feature electronically controlled doors, personalised climate settings and ambient mood lighting. The seat reclines seamlessly into a lie-flat bed and can be adjusted to the airline’s signature ‘zero gravity’ position for optimal rest.

Exceptional cabin service

Hospitality remains at the heart of the Emirates experience. Representing more than 140 nationalities and speaking over 70 languages, Emirates cabin crew embody a hospitality philosophy built around 4 pillars: excellence, attentiveness, innovation, and passion. Behind the service is an extensive training programme inspired by world-class hospitality standards, including principles drawn from Michelin-starred dining. Crew members are equipped with technical expertise and the skills to anticipate customer needs and deliver meaningful moments of care throughout the journey.

Onboard, carefully choreographed service flows ensure a seamless and personalised experience, from the thoughtfully timed meal service and cabin lighting transitions to proactive comfort checks and authentic customer interactions.

Food and beverage offering

Dining remains one of the most memorable elements of the Emirates experience. Across every cabin class, global culinary influences are combined with destination-inspired flavours. Freshly prepared multi-course meals are complemented by a curated selection of beverages — including soft drinks, juices, tea, coffee and alcoholic beverages. Children’s meals are offered on most routes, while complimentary organic baby food, milk formula and baby bottles are available for infants.

Emirates regularly introduces new treats and seasonal specialities for customers, from complimentary popcorn and warm cookies to premium ice cream on selected routes, as well as dedicated meals that reflect global celebrations such as Christmas, Eid, Diwali, and Lunar New Year. Customers can also choose from a wide range of special meals catering to dietary, medical and cultural requirements, including vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and low-sodium options.

Emirates Premium Economy offers an elevated dining experience, with meals served on Royal Doulton china, stainless-steel cutlery, and linen tablecloths. Customers appreciate the generous portions, fresh seasonal ingredients and thoughtfully selected wines, beers, spirits, as well as the exclusive Chandon sparkling wine.

In Business Class, customers enjoy gourmet multi-course menus inspired by regional cuisines, paired with an extensive selection of premium wines, spirits and complimentary champagne. Business Class customers can even experience chef-crafted dishes expertly paired with Moët & Chandon champagnes while in-flight, underscoring Emirates’ continued efforts to bring fine gastronomy to cruising altitude.

Emirates First Class offers one of the most sophisticated dining experiences available in the sky. Through its signature dine-on-demand service, customers can enjoy à la carte meals whenever they choose, accompanied by premium seasonal ingredients and unlimited caviar. Gourmet vegan dishes are available on selected routes, alongside a dedicated Movie Snacks Menu featuring favourites such as Wagyu sliders, lobster rolls, popcorn and edamame.

The airline’s beverage programme is equally distinguished. Emirates remains the only airline in the world to serve Dom Pérignon in First Class across its global network. First Class customers can explore a carefully curated collection of premium spirits and exceptional wines sourced from some of the world’s most prestigious wine regions.

World-leading entertainment with ICE

For many travellers, Emirates’ award-winning ice entertainment system has become synonymous with the airline itself. Offering more than 6,500 channels of content, ice provides unparalleled choice across film, television, music, podcasts, live sport and educational content. Widely recognised as one of the most comprehensive entertainment platforms in aviation, ice features nearly 3,000 movies, 3,000 music albums, more than 600 television channels and box sets, over 200 documentaries, and a vast selection of children’s programming.

Through partnerships with leading platforms, including HBO Max, Disney+, Paramount+, Discovery+, BBC, Bloomberg Originals, Shahid, and Spotify, customers can access an unrivalled library spanning blockbuster films, critically acclaimed television series, documentaries, and exclusive content. ICE also features podcasts, language-learning programmes, interactive games, and live sports and news channels.

Emirates Wi-Fi impresses customers globally

Connectivity has become an essential part of the modern travel experience, and Emirates is setting a new industry standard through its partnership with Starlink. The next-generation inflight connectivity programme is delivering ultra-fast, low-latency internet that enables passengers to stream, work, browse and stay connected with the same ease as on the ground.

Announced in November 2025, the agreement will see Starlink installed across Emirates’ entire in-service fleet, with completion expected by mid-2027. The complimentary service provides customers with high-speed connectivity in the sky, reinforcing the airline’s long-standing commitment to innovation and customer convenience.

Emirates has accelerated the rollout programme, with 33 Boeing 777-300ER aircraft already equipped with Starlink technology and the first 3 Airbus A380’s now entering service with the system onboard. Hundreds of thousands of customers have already experienced Starlink-enabled flights, enjoying seamless streaming, gaming, video calls, remote working and social media access throughout their journey.

APEX Best in Airline Awards

APEX leverages its partnership with TripIt from Concur, the world’s most-used travel-organising app, to gather anonymous, neutral, third-party passenger feedback and insights for the honours. For the 2026 Awards, over one million flights were rated by passengers across more than 600 airlines from around the world using a five-star scale.

Organised by the Kuching Blockchain Technology Association (KBTA) in collaboration with Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Sarawak and Metadise Sdn Bhd, BBCON 2026 builds on the momentum of its debut edition, which welcomed more than 600 delegates, 30 speakers and participants from 12 countries. With continued support from Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) and Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak), this year’s conference reflects a growing shift from awareness and exploration towards implementation, collaboration and real-world adoption.

Carrying the theme “From Vision to Execution: Building Secured Digital Future,” BBCON 2026 will focus on enabling digital transformation through Trusted Digital Infrastructure, Artificial Intelligence and Post-Quantum Cryptography. The conference aims to encourage stronger collaboration across industries and institutions while supporting practical applications of emerging technologies in areas such as finance, healthcare, public services and enterprise systems.

BBCON 2026 is expected to attract over 1,000 regional and international delegates through a more immersive, execution-focused programme that combines strategic discussions, technical knowledge sharing, startup engagement, and investment opportunities, designed to translate ideas into real-world implementation.

Over two days, participants can expect:

Keynotes and fireside chats with government and industry leaders

Plenary sessions on digital infrastructure and emerging technologies

Panel discussions on cross-border payments, central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), tokenisation and digital assets

Sector spotlights on blockchain applications in healthcare and public services

Technical deep dives on Zero-Knowledge Proofs (ZK) and data privacy

Startup, builder and talent pitching opportunities connecting innovators with investors and strategic partners

Networking opportunities designed to encourage collaboration and investment

Invitation-only roundtables involving regulators, policymakers, financial institutions and ecosystem leaders

A closing synthesis introducing the Kuching Declaration aligned with the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030) and the 13th Malaysia Plan

“As Sarawak advances its digital economy agenda under PCDS 2030 and the Sarawak Digital Economy Blueprint 2030, platforms such as BBCON 2026 play an important role in fostering innovation, collaboration and talent development. By bringing together government agencies, industry leaders, researchers, entrepreneurs and technology practitioners, we can encourage greater knowledge exchange, strengthen our digital ecosystem and create new opportunities for sustainable growth and innovation,” said Dato Dr Anderson Tiong Ing Heng, General Manager of Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA).

As blockchain technology continues to reshape cybersecurity and digital trust, it is important to create platforms that encourage knowledge sharing and informed discussions around its societal impact. Business events serve as powerful catalysts for these conversations, helping to build capabilities, inspire innovation and support Sarawak’s aspirations as a digitally progressive economy,” said Jason Tan Chin Foo, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak).

“BBCON 2026 reflects how the conversation around blockchain and emerging technologies is evolving from awareness into implementation,” said Gan Beng Yoke, President of Kuching Blockchain Technology Association (KBTA). “This year’s edition is designed to encourage stronger collaboration between industry, academia, government agencies, startups and investors, while creating more opportunities for innovation, talent development and real-world adoption across the region.”

Additional information on BBCON 2026, including speaker announcements, programme highlights, registration and ticketing updates, will be made available through the official conference website in the coming weeks. The conference welcomes participants across industries and sectors who are interested in exploring the future of trusted digital technologies, innovation and regional collaboration. Participants are also encouraged to connect, exchange perspectives, and join conversations that shape the evolving digital landscape.

“Today’s event organisers are looking beyond meeting space alone. They want destinations that can deliver convenience, connectivity, accommodation, dining, and memorable experiences within a single location,” said Robert Maurer Loeffler, General Manager of Centara Grand and Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld and Vice President of Operations for Centara Hotel & Resort. “Our integrated platform allows us to host events ranging from board meetings to conventions for 6,000 delegates while providing direct access to one of Bangkok’s most dynamic business and lifestyle districts. As international demand for Bangkok continues to grow, we remain committed to supporting organisers with the infrastructure, expertise, and flexibility required to deliver successful events of every scale.”

Recent international congresses have further reinforced the venue’s standing within the global meetings industry. In 2024, the Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld hosted the 18th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Asia Pacific Society of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology (APSCVIR), welcoming leading specialists from across the Asia-Pacific region.

The venue also hosted the Global Spine Congress 2024, one of the world’s leading gatherings for spine surgeons, researchers, and healthcare professionals. The congress welcomed more than 2,000 participants, featured over 600 speakers from 59 countries, and included more than 120 scientific sessions, as well as a sold-out exhibition showcasing the latest innovations in spine care.

At the centre of the destination is the Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld, the largest convention venue within Bangkok’s central business district. Designed to accommodate large-scale international events, the venue combines flexible configurations, advanced event technology, and dedicated support teams experienced in delivering regional and global programmes.

The Convention Hall serves as the venue’s flagship event space, offering a pillar-less configuration with seating for more than 5,000 guests. Flexible staging, professional audio-visual systems, and integrated lighting capabilities allow the space to be adapted for conventions, exhibitions, concerts, product launches, and corporate assemblies. The hall is complemented by 1,291 square metres of pre-function space, with an additional 385 square metres available through the convention centre’s open atrium, creating opportunities for exhibitions, networking functions, registrations, and sponsor activations.

For gala events, conferences, and high-profile corporate occasions, the World Ballroom provides a pillar-less setting with high ceilings, soundproof partition walls, large-format projection systems, and professional lighting and production capabilities. A dedicated 706-square-metre pre-function area overlooking the Bangkok skyline further enhances its suitability for receptions, award ceremonies, product presentations, and celebrations.

The venue’s Lotus Suites comprise 15 meeting rooms ranging from 58 to 412 square metres, accommodating between 10 and 400 guests. Equipped with integrated audio-visual facilities and natural daylight in selected rooms, the suites are designed for seminars, breakout sessions, training programmes, executive meetings, and private functions. An adjoining 809-square-metre pre-function area provides additional flexibility for registrations, product displays, exhibitions, and networking breaks.

For smaller corporate gatherings, M23 offers a dedicated executive meeting environment featuring four naturally lit boardrooms designed for groups of 18 to 50 participants. The contemporary venue is well-suited to board meetings, strategy sessions, workshops, and leadership retreats that require greater privacy and a more focused working environment.

KUCHING, 15 June 2026: As AI continues to reshape newsrooms around the world, 35 media practitioners from across Sarawak are building the skills needed to harness the technology through the “AI Masterclass: Strategic Usage, Productivity & Efficiency”, a training initiative by Business Events Sarawak’s (BESarawak) in collaboration with the Kuching Division Journalists Association (KDJA) and Commonwealth Journalists Association (CJA) Sarawak Branch.

The masterclass equips practitioners with the knowledge and tools to use AI responsibly and effectively, strengthening the quality, accuracy, and impact of business events journalism.

Through this collaboration, BESarawak, KDJA, and CJA are promoting continuous professional development to support a future-ready media industry and enhance journalists’ ability to report on issues that matter to Sarawak’s development, including the impact of business events.

“The masterclass reflects our commitment to our core value of driving impact together. Continuous learning and knowledge-sharing are essential in building a stronger media ecosystem that supports the growth of the business events industry,” said BESarawak’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, Jason Tan Chin Foo.

“Equipping media practitioners with emerging technologies is important to ensure stories about business events continue to create meaningful outcomes for communities. It also helps stakeholders better understand the role business events play in advancing Sarawak’s economic growth, knowledge development and long-term aspirations.”

KDJA President Ronnie Teo said journalists should embrace AI as a tool that supports, rather than replaces, professional judgement.

“We need the media community to move beyond ‘churnalism’ and leverage AI to support deeper research, stronger storytelling and more meaningful journalism. AI literacy will help journalists uncover important issues, tell compelling stories, and serve the public interest more effectively,” said Teo.

“We are pleased to collaborate with BESarawak and CJA in providing opportunities for Sarawak’s media practitioners to upskill and stay relevant in a rapidly evolving industry.”

Meanwhile, CJA Sarawak Branch President Nancy Nais said the masterclass was designed to help journalists use AI strategically in their daily work.

“Beyond the technology itself, this masterclass is about investing in the future of our media community. As the industry evolves, journalists need the confidence and skills to use AI effectively while upholding the principles of accuracy, credibility and public trust,” she said.

“By building AI literacy, we are helping media practitioners remain relevant, competitive and better equipped to deliver quality journalism that serves communities across Sarawak.”

With the media playing a vital role in Sarawak’s business events ecosystem, this masterclass forms part of BESarawak’s ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration and enhance journalistic capacity among industry stakeholders. It also supports Sarawak’s aspiration to become a knowledge-driven destination that embraces innovation and delivers long-term impact through business events.

Today, Langkawi’s UNESCO Global Geopark status continues to shape the island through five interconnected pillars: Geoconservation, Geoeducation, Geotourism, Sustainable Development, and Community Participation.

Together, these pillars not only guide conservation and tourism efforts on the island, but also continue to influence how Langkawi positions itself to the world.

As Langkawi celebrates another milestone in its UNESCO Global Geopark journey, the anniversary serves as a reminder that the recognition has never simply been about status but about building a destination where nature, people, culture and tourism can thrive together.

Geoconservation: Protecting Langkawi’s Natural Heritage

Langkawi’s geological landscapes tell stories that stretch back over 500 million years. Ancient rock formations, limestone karsts, caves, mangrove ecosystems, and unique biodiversity are among the reasons the island earned UNESCO recognition in the first place.

Since becoming a UNESCO Global Geopark, conservation efforts across Langkawi have continued to evolve with a stronger emphasis on protecting these natural assets for future generations. Key areas such as Kilim Karst Geoforest, Machinchang Cambrian Geoforest, and Dayang Bunting Marble Geoforest remain important conservation zones where environmental protection and tourism coexist in a careful balance.

Mangrove conservation within Kilim Karst Geoforest, for example, plays an important role in protecting wildlife habitats, marine ecosystems, and natural coastal resilience.

Meanwhile, Machinchang Cambrian Geoforest preserves some of the oldest geological formations in Southeast Asia, making it not only environmentally significant but globally valuable from a geological perspective.

Today, geoconservation remains one of the strongest foundations of Langkawi’s tourism identity — reinforcing the idea that preserving nature is essential to preserving the island itself.

Geoeducation: Turning Langkawi Into A Living Classroom

Education has become another key pillar of the Langkawi UNESCO Global Geopark story. Over the years, Langkawi has evolved into a living classroom for students, researchers, local communities, tourism operators, and visitors from around the world. Geological heritage is no longer viewed purely through a scientific lens, but as something people can experience through storytelling, guided tours, interactive learning, and nature-based exploration. Initiatives such as the Geopark Discovery Centre and “Geopark to School” programmes have helped raise awareness of geology, biodiversity, conservation, and environmental responsibility.

Guided mangrove tours within the Kilim Karst Geoforest often incorporate educational storytelling about the ecosystem, wildlife, and the landscape’s geological history.

This emphasis on geoeducation has encouraged a more meaningful tourism experience, leaving visitors with a deeper appreciation for the island’s ecological and cultural significance.

Geotourism: Experiencing Langkawi Through Nature And Heritage

As a UNESCO Global Geopark, Langkawi’s tourism approach goes beyond sightseeing alone. Geotourism focuses on experiences that connect visitors more meaningfully with the island’s landscapes, heritage, culture, and local communities.

Today, many of Langkawi’s tourism experiences are closely tied to its geopark identity — from mangrove kayaking and cave explorations to geological site visits, eco-cruises, island-hopping experiences, and guided nature trails.

Rather than positioning nature simply as a backdrop, geotourism encourages visitors to understand better the stories, ecosystems, and heritage behind the places they explore.

This approach has also helped strengthen Langkawi’s destination positioning internationally, particularly among travellers seeking more sustainable, educational, and nature-connected travel experiences.

Sustainable Development: Building A Tourism Future That Lasts

The UNESCO Global Geopark recognition has helped encourage tourism models that support local livelihoods, preserve environmental integrity, and create long-term economic opportunities without compromising the island’s natural and cultural assets.

One example can be seen in Pulau Tuba, where community-based tourism initiatives have helped spotlight local culture, traditional lifestyles, and low-impact tourism experiences.

Homestays, fishing village experiences, local craft-making, and community-led tourism activities demonstrate how tourism can directly benefit local communities while preserving the island’s identity and environment.

At the same time, eco-tourism initiatives across Langkawi continue to promote more responsible ways to experience the island through lower-impact, conservation-conscious activities.

As global tourism continues to evolve, Langkawi’s geopark philosophy positions sustainability not as a trend but as a long-term commitment.

Community Participation: The People Behind The Geopark

At the heart of Langkawi UNESCO Global Geopark is its people. Community participation remains one of the most important elements behind the geopark’s continued success.

From local guides and fishermen to tourism operators, schools, small businesses, and village communities, many stakeholders play an active role in preserving and sharing Langkawi’s natural and cultural heritage.

Communities such as those in Pulau Tuba have increasingly become part of the geopark experience itself — helping visitors connect not only with landscapes, but also with the traditions, livelihoods, and stories that shape life on the island.

Looking Ahead

As Langkawi celebrates its UNESCO Global Geopark anniversary, the recognition continues to serve as both an achievement and an ongoing responsibility.

The anniversary also arrives ahead of the upcoming symposium in September, where Langkawi is expected to welcome delegates, researchers, policymakers, and geopark representatives from around the world. The event will further reinforce Langkawi’s position as a globally recognised geopark destination and an important voice in conversations surrounding conservation, education, sustainability, and responsible tourism.

More importantly, it reflects how the geopark journey continues to evolve — not only through policy and tourism development, but through the shared efforts of communities, conservationists, educators and industry players working together to protect what makes Langkawi unique.

Ultimately, Langkawi’s UNESCO Global Geopark status represents a continuing commitment to ensuring that nature, heritage, tourism and community can grow hand in hand for generations to come.

SAMUI ISLAND, 12 June 2026: Centara Reserve Samui announces “A New Dimension of Wellbeing”, an exclusive collaboration between Reserve Spa Cenvaree and Integrative Somatic Practitioner, Performance Specialist Brad Reed.

The collaboration forms part of the resort’s broader “Month of Mindful Renewal” initiative: a curated wellness focus designed around restoration, nervous system balance, and slower, more intentional experiences by the sea. This approach further strengthens the spa’s credibility following its recent recognition in the Tripadvisor Travelers’ Choice Awards 2026, reflecting consistently strong guest feedback and experience-led wellness programming.

Available for a limited period at Reserve Spa Cenvaree, the “New Dimension of Wellbeing” programme brings together somatic therapy, breathwork, sound healing, and body-based practices through a series of treatments designed to release tension, restore alignment, and support nervous system recovery.

Rather than approaching wellness as passive relaxation, the collaboration focuses on how the body physically holds stress, fatigue, and overstimulation, with particular relevance to fast-paced modern routines and travel patterns. Each session is structured to recalibrate both body and mind through grounded, hands-on techniques delivered within the calm setting of Reserve Spa Cenvaree.

Brad Reed’s holistic approach combines movement, therapeutic touch, breath regulation, and vibrational sound work, drawing from practices that support posture, circulation, recovery, and nervous system balance. The collaboration introduces treatments that are both restorative and deeply physical in their effect, designed not simply to feel calming in the moment, but to create a lasting sense of ease afterwards.

The programme includes:

Somatics & Body Balancing

Available in 60-minute and 90-minute formats, this hands-on treatment combines gentle movement, breathwork, and therapeutic touch to release chronic tension, improve posture, and restore natural alignment. Each session is tailored individually, supporting a more grounded physical state and improved body awareness.

Restore & Radiance Ritual

Blending myofascial work, Balinese massage, deep tissue techniques, and the resonant frequencies of sound therapy, this ritual is designed to support both physical renewal and visible radiance. Treatments are available in facial, body, or combined formats.

Nervous System Reset

A 90-minute immersive treatment focused on deep relaxation and recalibration. Combining bodywork, energy balancing, Tibetan singing bowls, and tuning forks, the experience is designed to quiet the mind and release accumulated tension held in the body.

Alongside the signature treatments, guests may also participate in Reserve Morning Rituals: guided sessions of mindful movement and breathwork by the sea, designed to gradually awaken the body and establish a calmer rhythm for the day ahead.

Set within the landscaped surroundings of Centara Reserve Samui, Reserve Spa Cenvaree has increasingly positioned itself around slower, more considered wellness experiences, where architecture, natural light, sound, and pace all contribute to how treatments are experienced. This collaboration continues that direction, introducing practices that feel both contemporary and deeply restorative within the splendour of island wellbeing.

Available for a limited time at Reserve Spa Cenvaree: “A New Dimension of Wellbeing,” from 18 June to 12 July 2026, daily from 0900 to 2000.

BERLIN, 12 June 2026: Emirates confirmed this week that it stands ready to launch daily services to Berlin and Stuttgart, committing more than EUR100 million annually in operational expenses, staff, airport charges, fuel, and other expenditures, subject to approval from the German Federal Ministry of Transport.

Berlin sits as the political heart of Europe’s largest economy. A city of 3.9 million people, it is home to a thriving start-up ecosystem, a well-established diplomatic community, and a cultural scene that draws millions of visitors each year. Yet its long-haul connectivity has not kept pace with the city’s strong global credentials. According to OAG schedule data, over 85% of Berlin Brandenburg Airport’s international connectivity is concentrated within Europe.

Stuttgart faces a comparable gap in long-haul services. The economic engine of Baden-Württemberg, one of Germany’s most export-driven states, remains underserved when it comes to long-haul air connectivity, the very kind of connectivity manufacturers, suppliers, and trading partners depend upon.

Emirates Airline President Sir Tim Clark said: “Emirates is ready to bring daily widebody connectivity to Berlin and Stuttgart and connect them with our extensive network, backed by substantial investment. These are two of Germany’s most important economic centres, yet both remain underserved in terms of long-haul connectivity. German businesses have told us they need it; the Berlin Chamber of Commerce has called for it; our own data confirms demand; and flights are forecast to be full. Emirates already connects Germany to 50 destinations across Africa, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Australasia that no German airline serves. These are destinations that matter to German exporters, tourism operators, and the millions of travellers looking for more choice and better connections. All we are asking for is the opportunity to serve these cities and their communities, and we remain committed to working constructively with the German authorities to make that a reality and deliver tangible benefits that would be felt across both city regions from day one of our operations.”

Economic impact and job creation

New Emirates routes to both cities would generate hundreds of new jobs. A 2012 study by the German Aerospace Centre (DLR) estimated that a daily Emirates service to both Berlin and Stuttgart would create close to 1,000 direct and indirect jobs. That figure remains broadly consistent today.

Of the 2.36 million passengers carried on Emirates’ flights to and from Germany in 2025, 40% flew between Dubai and Germany, while 60% were connecting passengers, underscoring Dubai’s dual role as a premium destination, a growing source market, and a global transfer hub.

If daily flights to Berlin and Stuttgart were permitted, Emirates would offer convenient one-stop connections for German travellers and businesses in these cities and regions.

Today, Berlin and Stuttgart are connected directly to Dubai exclusively by narrow-body aircraft with limited onboard amenities, and only seasonally. A daily Emirates Boeing 777 service would deliver a step change, not only in passenger experience and comfort, but also in cargo capacity.

Germany logged nearly 1.2 million overnight stays by GCC visitors in 2024, a valuable tourism segment that stays longer, spends more, and has a direct, positive impact on tourism revenues. GCC visitors contributed an estimated EUR2.3 billion to the German economy in 2024 alone. The German National Tourist Board projects GCC visitor numbers will reach 3 million annually by the end of the decade.

Looking ahead

The airline argues that the economic case is clear. Daily Emirates services to Berlin and Stuttgart would create hundreds of jobs, strengthen trade links, open up underserved destinations, and attract high-value tourism.

Emirates believes these services would complement Germany’s existing aviation ecosystem, offering travellers and businesses greater choice and competition on routes where it is needed most.

The airline remains committed to engaging constructively with the German Federal Government and looks forward to the opportunity to bring the benefits of long-haul connectivity to Berlin and Stuttgart.
