PATTAYA, Thailand, 15 September 2026: The 7th Fitz Club Squash Tournament came to a thrilling conclusion following three action-packed days of intense competition, outstanding sportsmanship and memorable moments on court.

Bringing together passionate squash players and spectators, the tournament delivered a fun-filled weekend that celebrated not only the competitive spirit but also the friendships and camaraderie that continue to strengthen Pattaya’s growing squash community, making it more than just a sporting competition.

Vitanart Vathanakul delivered a spirited and determined performance, battling his way to the semi-finals in impressive style. Balancing his role as both a competitor and tournament organiser, he gave his all on court while also working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the event’s success.

The tournament drew an impressive international field, welcoming players from France, Australia, Hong Kong, Korea, and more.

Congratulations to Kim Jin Oh of Korea on his outstanding performance and well-deserved victory, with Sathid Sujittapiban of Thailand finishing as runner-up.

The highly anticipated final kept spectators on the edge of their seats, with both players demonstrating exceptional finesse, determination and fighting spirit right through to the final point. Their closely contested rallies and relentless efforts to keep every ball in play created an exciting atmosphere on court, with enthusiastic cheers from spectators adding to the match’s intensity. Their journey to the final was equally impressive, as both players battled through the tournament from the opening day, producing consistently competitive matches and proving their determination to reach the top.

The tournament would not have been possible without the generous support of our valued sponsors, Starmakes, Wine Dee Dee Co., Ltd., Kasch, Ouayporn Panit and Blue Ocean Inter Group. Their kind support and contribution helped make this year’s tournament a success, and we sincerely thank them for being part of this exciting sporting event.

LANGKAWI, 11 September 2026: There is a different way to experience Langkawi, from the back of a horse.

At Island Horses, riders travel beyond the usual viewpoints and attractions, following trails through rainforest, countryside and along the island’s beaches. Depending on the route and riding ability, the experience can take you through jungle paths, rice fields, mangroves, village roads, and the Andaman Sea.

Established in 2006 at The Perdana Stables along Jalan Telaga Tujuh, Island Horses is a family-run equestrian centre offering guided rides for both beginners and experienced riders. Its location places riders within easy reach of some of Langkawi’s most varied landscapes, making the surrounding environment an integral part of the experience.

Into the landscape

The rides suit different experience levels, but all offer a closer encounter with Langkawi’s natural surroundings.

The Jungle & Beach Ride takes riders through secondary rainforest before emerging onto Pantai Kok. Meanwhile, longer routes combine forest trails, beaches, and mountain terrain, including a stop near the Telaga Harbour Lighthouse.

For a broader cross-section of the island, the Back to Nature ride passes through rainforest, rice fields, mangrove areas, beaches and village paths. Rather than moving between individual attractions, riders experience how these different landscapes connect across the island.

The pace is part of the appeal, too. On horseback, riders travel slowly enough to notice the terrain and surroundings, with the horses providing a natural way to navigate trails that would otherwise be difficult to explore.

The horses matter too

The experience centres on the horses as much as the landscape.

Island Horses’ stable includes Criollo horses from Argentina, a breed known for its endurance and suitability for varied terrain, as well as purebred Malaysian-Arabians bred and trained for endurance riding.

The stables also raise younger horses and foals on site. Riders are matched with horses according to their experience level, with beginners accompanied on suitable routes by experienced trail leaders. This makes the rides accessible to people who may never have ridden before, while more experienced equestrians can take on longer and more varied trails.

Ride and swim

For riders looking for something beyond a traditional trail ride, Island Horses offers one of Langkawi’s more unusual experiences: swimming with a horse in the sea.

The two-hour Ride & Swim With the Horse begins on land, travelling through rainforest and along the beach before entering the water. Confident riders can then swim alongside their horses in the sea, combining a trail ride with an experience that takes full advantage of Langkawi’s island setting.

A shorter Swim With the Horse experience is also available for those who want to focus on the water-based element.

A closer connection to Langkawi

The trails reveal landscapes that are easy to pass by when travelling by car. At the same time, the slower pace lets riders take in the relationship between Langkawi’s forests, agricultural areas, villages, and coastline.

For first-time riders, it introduces horse riding set within one of Malaysia’s most diverse island environments. For experienced equestrians, it offers a chance to explore Langkawi on terrain that changes throughout the ride.

Either way, the experience ends where it began — back at the stables, with a better sense of the island not from having seen it from a distance, but from having travelled through it.

BANGKOK, 8 September 2026: Dusit Hotels and Resorts, the hotel arm of Dusit International, one of Thailand’s leading hotel and property development companies, will open Dusit Princess Ipoh on 1 October 2026, bringing its distinctive Thai-inspired gracious hospitality to Ipoh, the capital of Malaysia’s Perak state.

Located approximately 200 km north of Kuala Lumpur and shaped by the late-19th-century tin-mining boom that transformed the city into an important commercial hub, Ipoh is home to a historic centre where colonial-era shophouses, traditional kopitiams, and small local businesses preserve the city’s past.

Its multicultural culinary traditions – from longstanding dim sum restaurants to celebrated Ipoh white coffee, whose distinctive flavour comes from beans traditionally roasted with margarine – have also made the city a draw for food-focused travellers. Meanwhile, the dramatic limestone formations and cave temples of the surrounding Kinta Valley invite visitors to combine cultural discovery with nature excursions and outdoor exploration.

Under its new identity as Dusit Princess Ipoh, the established 268-room property — owned by Plenitude Berhad, a Bursa Malaysia-listed group with interests in property development, property investment, and hospitality — is ideally positioned to help travellers discover the city’s heritage, culinary scene, and natural attractions, while offering the comfort and flexibility required for city breaks, extended stays, business travel, and events.

Set beside the Perak Turf Club, a long-established centre for thoroughbred racing, the hotel is less than five minutes by car from Ipoh city centre. Sultan Azlan Shah Airport is approximately 10 minutes away and offers direct flights from Singapore.

Reflecting the practical, welcoming character of Dusit’s upper-midscale Dusit Princess brand, accommodation spans five room categories, ranging from 25 sq m Superior Rooms to 58 sq m Family Suites.

Rooms offer views across the Perak Turf Club or city skyline and include high-speed Wi-Fi, smart TVs, quality bedding, in-room safes, and dedicated workspaces. To support longer stays and give families greater flexibility, Family Rooms and Family Suites also include kitchenettes.

Facilities include an outdoor swimming pool, Kids Club, self-service laundry, accessible rooms, a prayer room, and complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. Guests also have access to a 6,580 sq ft fitness centre offering extensive workout facilities and extended opening hours.

The Atrium, the hotel’s naturally lit all-day dining restaurant, offers sweeping views of Ipoh’s limestone hills and cityscape. It serves a buffet breakfast featuring local and regional favourites such as nasi lemak, roti canai, kway teow goreng, and dim sum, alongside continental options. Local and international dishes are available throughout the day. The lobby coffee shop, meanwhile, serves speciality teas, coffees, and juices, along with a selection of pastries and desserts.

For meetings, conferences, weddings, and social occasions, the hotel offers three flexible venues providing approximately 964 sq m of event space.

The principal venue is the 496.8 sq m Kinta Ballroom, which can host up to 400 guests theatre-style or 300 guests for round-table events. Equipped with an LED screen, dynamic sound system, and adjustable lighting, it is supported by the 383 sq m Kampar Hall and 84 sq m Gopeng Room, which provide additional options for smaller gatherings.

“With accommodation and facilities designed to meet the needs of leisure travellers, families, business guests, government delegations, and event groups, Dusit Princess Ipoh represents a compelling opportunity to introduce the welcoming character of the Dusit Princess brand to a city with such a strong identity and well-established appeal,” said Chanin Donavanik, Group Chief Executive Officer, Dusit International. “Perak welcomed 23.6 million domestic visitors in 2025, making it one of Malaysia’s three most visited states. This strong demand, together with Ipoh’s convenient access from Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, gives the city considerable potential to attract more international visitors. Working with Plenitude Berhad, we are building on the strengths of an established property to support that growth while helping guests connect more deeply with the destination.”

Madam Elsie Chua, Non-Independent Non-Executive Chairman, Plenitude Berhad, said, “Dusit Princess Ipoh marks a new chapter for this established property and for Plenitude’s hospitality portfolio. Building on the property’s longstanding presence in Ipoh, we are delighted to bring the distinctive warmth of Thai-inspired gracious hospitality to the city through a recognised international brand, while embracing the character, culture, and local flavours that make Ipoh unique. We look forward to creating a welcoming gateway for guests to experience Ipoh – combining the qualities and standards associated with the Dusit Princess brand with the authentic spirit of the destination.”

From the hotel, guests can easily reach Ipoh Old Town, including Concubine Lane, a lively historic alley lined with small shops and stalls, and Kong Heng Square, a restored heritage enclave housing independent businesses. Local dining districts and commercial areas are also within easy reach.

To help guests explore further, the hotel’s Discover the Soul of Ipoh programme brings together locally led activities spanning heritage, food, nature, well-being, and family experiences.

Highlights include photographic walks through Ipoh’s heritage streets, visits to Tambun pomelo orchards and limestone cave temples, food trails featuring Ipoh white coffee and traditional desserts, and workshops in Labu Sayong pottery, a traditional Perak craft. Family cooking classes and evening wildlife adventures are also available.

To celebrate its opening, Dusit Princess Ipoh is offering stays from MYR230 (approximately USD57) per room per night, including MYR50 (approximately USD12) in daily food and beverage credit. The offer is valid for stays from 1 October through 31 December 2026.

KUCHING, Sarawak, 4 September 2026: Sarawak has won the bid to host the 38th International Conference on Microelectronics (ICM) 2026, bringing the prestigious international conference back to Malaysia after more than thirty years.

Taking place from 7 to 10 December 2026 in Kuching, at the Borneo Cultures Museum as a principal conference venue, ICM 2026 is expected to welcome more than 300 delegates, connecting researchers, engineers, academics and industry professionals from the international microelectronics community to exchange expertise and explore developments shaping the future of the sector.

Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn (centre) together with ICM 2026 organising committee and event collaborators.

Hosting ICM 2026 directly supports Sarawak’s development priorities under the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, particularly in innovation, digital transformation, human capital and advanced manufacturing. As Sarawak develops its semiconductor ecosystem, the conference will connect global expertise with local talent, research and industry, while advancing artificial intelligence (AI) as an accelerator for microelectronics development.

The conference will feature a broad technical programme comprising regular papers, special sessions, cross-society special sessions, an embedded workshop, live demonstrations, tutorials and a technical industry visit, creating multiple platforms for researchers and industry practitioners to exchange knowledge and explore emerging developments in circuits, systems and microelectronics.

Additional activities being developed alongside the main conference include a Sino-Malaysia workshop, CASS Standards workshop, and CAS Industry Forum, further extending ICM 2026 beyond the conventional academic conference format and creating opportunities for industry engagement, standards discussions and international collaboration.

“ICM 2026 is an important step towards the Sarawak Government’s ambition of building a high-income economy driven by innovation and technology,” said The Honourable Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Sarawak. “For Sarawak to compete in the industries of the future, we must create opportunities for our people to learn from the best, participate in global networks and turn knowledge into real opportunities. ICM brings that global community directly to us, creating opportunities for our talent and industry to learn, collaborate and turn knowledge into new possibilities for Sarawak.”

“Winning ICM 2026 demonstrates the strategic value of attracting specialised international conferences that align with local development priorities,” said Jason Tan Chin Foo, Chief Executive Officer of Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak). “The conference is expected to generate RM2.5 million in total estimated economic impact, but its greater value is what it can leave in the long term. ICM can be a powerful catalyst to strengthen Sarawak’s growing electronics sector through new knowledge, connections and opportunities that continue well beyond the conference. BESarawak is proud to support legacy-driven events such as ICM 2026.”

“The next big step for AI is not only about smarter software, but also building better and more efficient technology to power it,” said Ts. Ir. Dr Fakhrul Zaman Rokhani, IEEE CASS Vice President for Education and Communications and General Chair for ICM2026. “ICM 2026 will explore how we can make AI faster, more energy-efficient and more sustainable through advances in microelectronics and hardware. Bringing these global conversations to Malaysia via Sarawak gives professionals and young talent in the region greater access to the ideas and technologies shaping our future.”

Organised by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Circuits and Systems Society (IEEE CASS), with the IEEE CASS Malaysia Chapter as a co-financial sponsor and active contributor to the organising committee, ICM 2026 is supported by the Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development (MEITD), Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak), Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Sarawak Microelectronics Design (SMD) Semiconductor Sdn Bhd, and Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak. The Academy of Sciences Malaysia is also participating as ICM 2026’s Science & Technology Partner.

ICM 2026 is supported by the wider IEEE Circuits and Systems community, with technical co-sponsorship from the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society and 13 IEEE CASS chapters worldwide. The conference has also received IEEE Xplore publication approval. At the same time, selected papers will be invited for extended submission to IEEE Transactions on VLSI Systems, Neuroelectronics, and the Journal of Integrated Circuits and Systems, subject to each journal’s review process.

Researchers, scientists, academics, entrepreneurs, engineers, policymakers, and industry professionals working across circuits, systems, and related technologies are invited to be part of ICM 2026 in Sarawak and contribute to the conversations, collaborations, and innovations shaping the future of microelectronics. For registration, call for papers and sponsorship opportunities, visit www.ieee-icm.org.

BANGKOK, 31 August 2026: Dusit Hotels and Resorts, the hotel arm of Dusit International, one of Thailand’s leading hotel and property development companies, is set to introduce its locally focused, affordable lifestyle brand, ASAI Hotels, to Malaysia, with the opening of ASAI Gamuda Cove.

Scheduled to welcome its first guests on 15 September 2026, the 13-storey hotel is located within the 1,530-acre Gamuda Cove township, approximately 20 minutes by car from Kuala Lumpur International Airport. The largest ASAI property to date, it is also Dusit’s second hotel in Malaysia, following Dusit Princess Melaka, and the first ASAI hotel to open outside a city neighbourhood. It joins the brand’s three established properties in Bangkok and Kyoto.

Embodying the ASAI Hotels slogan, Live Local, the hotel places some of Selangor’s most distinctive nature experiences right on guests’ doorstep. It sits beside the 1,111-acre Paya Indah Discovery Wetlands, a nature reserve and wildlife sanctuary where visitors can observe native wildlife and explore a rare freshwater wetland landscape. Alongside it, the 90-acre Wetlands Arboretum serves as a living tree museum, with walking routes, birdwatching, and environmental learning activities that offer further opportunities to experience the area’s biodiversity up close.

Also nearby is the family-friendly SplashMania Waterpark, home to 39 slides and attractions, as well as Discovery Park, an outdoor recreation and entertainment hub offering activities for families and adventure seekers. An electric tram network connects key destinations across the township, allowing guests to move easily between its nature, recreation, and commercial areas without relying on private vehicles.

ASAI Gamuda Cove brings together 280 rooms, locally inspired dining, and easy access to wetlands and waterpark attractions in a well-connected destination near Kuala Lumpur International Airport and Sepang International Circuit.

Across 280 thoughtfully planned rooms, ASAI Gamuda Cove’s design focuses on comfort, efficient space use, and flexibility. Options range from compact rooms for solo travellers and couples to balcony rooms, bunk-bed configurations, and a two-room family category sleeping up to six guests. Selected rooms face the wetlands, and all include fast Wi-Fi, smart televisions, walk-in showers, and practical storage.

Beyond the guest rooms, the hotel features an infinity pool overlooking the wetlands, a gym, co-working areas, flexible meeting and event spaces accommodating up to 100 people, and three dining venues centred on Malaysian flavours, complemented by Thai and international dishes.

The all-day dining restaurant Nasi & Khao draws on the comfort-food traditions shared by Malaysia and Thailand, bringing Malaysian classics, vibrant Thai flavours, and familiar Western dishes together in a relaxed setting. Tea Shop provides a warm, community-focused space for curated teas and light bites from morning until late, while the Pool Bar pairs handcrafted cocktails, refreshments, and snacks with views across the infinity pool and Paya Indah Discovery Wetlands.

The hotel will also place guests approximately 20 minutes by car from Sepang International Circuit, where Formula 1 will return for the first time since 2017 with the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia, taking place from 2–4 October 2026.

“ASAI Gamuda Cove shows how our Live Local approach can work in a setting where nature, recreation, and a growing community come together,” said Dusit International Group CEO Chanin Donavanik. “It will give travellers a comfortable and practical base, provide residents with new places to meet and dine, and put the wetlands and the wider township within easy reach. Opening just ahead of Formula 1’s return gives us an excellent opportunity to demonstrate what ASAI offers to visitors from Malaysia and around the world. And the hotel’s role will extend well beyond the race weekend: we want every stay to help guests experience more of the area and connect with the people who call it home.”

ASAI Hotels was created for travellers who value well-designed essentials, accessible rates, and a closer connection to the places they visit. Each property combines compact, functional rooms with social, dining, and co-working spaces shaped by its location. ASAI Gamuda Cove will become the brand’s fourth operating hotel, joining ASAI Bangkok Chinatown and ASAI Bangkok Sathorn in Thailand, and ASAI Kyoto Shijo in Japan.

ASAI’s Malaysian debut will also mark the latest step in Dusit’s expansion in the country, following the opening of Dusit Princess Melaka in December 2024. The company’s presence in Malaysia is set to grow further in October 2026 with the opening of Dusit Princess Ipoh, details of which will be announced soon.

“We are delighted to welcome Disney Cruise Line to Langkawi and to have the island included as a new port of call for select sailings of the Disney Adventure. This is an exciting opportunity for Langkawi to welcome a new audience to our shores and introduce them to the destination beyond what they may already know about the island. We look forward to working closely with our tourism partners to ensure that guests have a memorable experience during their time in Langkawi,” said Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) Chief Executive Officer Datuk Seri Haji Iskandar bin Datuk Haji Mohd Kaus.

Visitors who choose to go ashore can spend their day in Langkawi according to their interests, as the island offers a range of experiences suited to families and travellers alike, from nature-based activities and family-friendly attractions to local crafts and cultural experiences. The island is also home to Southeast Asia’s first UNESCO Global Geopark, offering visitors an opportunity to encounter the geological and natural heritage that distinguishes the Langkawi archipelago.

All Disney Adventure sailings will continue to begin and end in Singapore. On itineraries that include Langkawi, guests may go ashore during the port visit but will not be permitted to embark or disembark in Langkawi, and must return to the ship by the all-aboard time communicated onboard.

For Langkawi, the announcement marks the beginning of a new relationship with Disney Cruise Line and another opportunity to put the island on the itinerary of travellers discovering Southeast Asia.
