Philippines expands ePassport centres

DUBAI, UAE, 2 September 2021: The Philippines Department of Foreign Affairs’ is expanding its ePassport renewal service to nine new countries through an outsourcing agreement with VFS Global.

The ePassport renewal services for Philippines nationals is now available in 14 cities across Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe and the Middle East since the third quarter of 2021

Before the latest expansion, VFS Global managed the ePassport Renewal Centres in Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the UAE, and Riyadh, Jeddah and Al Khobar in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on behalf of the Philippines Department of Foreign Affairs.

Under the latest agreement with VFS Global the international firm will offer ePassport renewal services for Philippine nationals in nine new countries; Cyprus, Ethiopia, France, Ireland, Kuwait, Singapore, the UK, the USA and Vietnam. 

The launch of the service dates back to November 2019 when VFS Global opened the first ePassport Renewal Centres in Dubai, UAE.

Following the success of the Dubai pilot project, VFS Global successfully expanded services to Abu Dhabi also in the UAE and three cities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by 2020.

VFS Global head of business development Chris Dix thanked the Philippines Department of Foreign Affairs for its “continued faith in us as a leading passport and consular service provider.”

“We look forward to many more years of fruitful cooperation to ensure Philippine nationals across the world benefit from a first-class ePassport renewal service by expanding this service to more locations,” he said.

VFS Global currently operates 163 centres providing Passport and Consular Services to 12 governments in 31 countries worldwide.
