Polish travellers holiday in the Maldives

-

SINGAPORE, 21 June 2021: Polish-based Luke Air launched weekly charter flights from Poland to the Maldives, 17 June that will continue to April 2022.

Visit Maldives reported that 297 tourists arrived in the Maldives from Poland on Luke Air’s first direct charter flight using an A330 aircraft.

Luke Air operates under Blue Panorama Airlines, and the charter series to the Maldives is managed by Polish tour operator ITAKA and handled locally by Sun Ocean Maldives.

The latest series follows charters introduced last February using Lot Polish Airlines. Those flights continued until early May.

The national marketing organisation, Visit Maldives, launched a joint campaign with ITAKA to promote the Maldives as a safe haven for Polish travellers. The campaign coincided with the recommencement of the charter flights to the Maldives from Warsaw to promote the destination and ensure the charter operation can continue year-round.

With over 30 years of experience, ITAKA is one of the most popular tour operators in Poland, offering holidays to over 100 locations worldwide. It served  915,000 clients in 2018. ITAKA commands a 30% market share of the Polish charter travel market. The latest travel data from the Maldives shows eastern Europe, which includes Poland, generated 479,597 travellers up to 3 June.

The Maldives reopened its borders for tourists of all nationalities on 15 July 2020, with rigorous procedures in place to ensure the safety of tourists and tourism workers. Tourists are required to fill an online health declaration form within 24 hours before their departure and have a negative PCR test result conducted 96 hours before their departure.
