Hospitality event goes on

-

BANGKOK, 10 November 2020: Against the Covid-19 odds the 10th Thailand Tourism Forum (TTF) 2021 will go ahead as an in-person event in Bangkok, Monday 18 January hosted by the Conrad Hotel.

Most large scale events are postponing during the first quarter of 2021 or adopting a hybrid model with a small real-time audience filled out by a virtual online attendance.

Bucking that trend the organisers opted for the traditional ‘in-person event’ according to a statement by C9 Hotelworks the lead partner backing the single-day travel trade gathering. Co partners are AMCHAM Thailand, STR, Horwath HTL, JLL, QUO, Delivering Asia Communications and Hilton Hotels and Resorts. For the first time, the event moves venue from its traditional host Intercontinental Hotel to the Conrad.

Event registration will open by late November and will comply with SHA event guidelines on social distancing and Covid-19 safety measures. The organisers will have to clarify if any restrictions on attendance will apply as the event consistently attracts around 900 people each year.

Attendance could likely be limited to around 400 to 500 to achieve adequate social distancing.

The Thailand Tourism Forum is viewed as the annual curtain-raiser for the country’s hospitality industry and one of just a few events in Thailand that have survived in the English language. It usually occurs during the same week as the annual ASEAN Tourism Forum. In 2021, ATF is supposed to be hosted in Phnom Penh Cambodia (17 to 23 January).  However, tourism officials linked to the organising of the ATF 2021 told TTR Weekly that Cambodia’s tourism ministry is in the process of issuing a statement postponing or cancelling the event due to the Covif-19 pandemic and the subsequent closure of countries to all but essential travel.
