Danang under lockdown

DANANG, 29 July 2020: Vietnam’s Ministry of Transport has halted all domestic passenger flights to and from Danang City for 15 days, effective from 28 July.

All repatriation flights out of Danang had to depart by midnight, Tuesday. Around 80,000 domestic tourists were scheduled to be airlifted out of the central region province.

According to Vietnam Global Portal News, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) granted permission to Bamboo Airways, Pacific Airlines and VietJet Air to carry out more flights from the city to complete the operation by the deadline.

The Ministry also suspended road passenger transport to and from Danang with the exception of essential items such as medicines, food and groceries.

Over the past three days, the country confirmed 16 new Covid-19 cases, including 15 linked to three hospitals in Danang. Residents in Hai Chau, Thanh Khe, Son Tra, Ngu Hanh Son, Cam Le, and Lieu Chieu Districts are requested to stay home and only go out in case of extreme necessity such as buying food and medicine, emergencies, and working at factories.

The residents are also requested to keep a distance of at least two meters from each other. A crowd of more than two persons are not allowed outside offices, schools, hospitals and public places.

The central city decided to lock down three hospitals: Hospital C, General Hospital, and Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Hospital, where the patients visited just before they were confirmed positive for Covid- 19.
