THA backs effort to build hotel skills

BANGKOK, 3 December 2019: The Thai Hotels Association is endorsing a new executive development programme for hospitality and tourism executives, presented by the School of Management of the Mae Fah Luang University, Chiang Rai, Thailand.

Scheduled for 27 to 31 January, the first of a series of five-day courses will focus on enhancing the planning and leadership capabilities of senior hospitality executives.

Keen to expand its influence in training and education across the country, Thailand’s national hotel association confirmed last week it was endorsing the MFU programme to support hotel executives improve their career path and skills.

Mae Fah Luang University, which was was recently graded by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings as one of the two top universities in Thailand and is now developing executive programmes through its School of Management that will appeal to mid-management staff in the hospitality sector.

In its preamble for the new programmes, the university says “most senior hospitality executives rose through the ranks and were promoted based on experience…They will want to gain more insights on relevant, specific and workable solutions to real-word, real-time demands.”

MFU faculty members and several guest lecturers will present the programme sessions.

Designed to meet the challenges of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand’s hospitality sectors, the one-week programmes will feature two-way dialogues by MFU’s faculty experts who will guide interactive classroom discussions and informal breakaway chat sessions.

Participants will be lodged in single rooms of MFU’s Wanasom Resort with breakfast and lunch F&B services provided for the duration of the five-day programme course. 

Programme fee
THB 34.000, includes the programme sessions plus single room accommodation,10 coffee breaks five breakfasts and lunches and a farewell dinner. The first programme runs from 27 to 31 January 2020
