YANGON, 12 December 2019: Yangon’s Pun Hlaing Golf Club was named “Best Course in Myanmar” at the Asia Pacific Golf Awards 2019 in New Delhi recently.
Designed by golfing legend Gary Player in 2002, the 7,124-yard, par-72 course has hosted the Myanmar Open three times.
Overlooking the 18th hole is Pun Hlaing’s sister hotel, the four-star Awei Metta, which opened just one year ago. It won the Best Resort Hotel Development at the 2019 Myanmar National Real Estate Awards last October.
Together, the hotel and golf course make up a popular retreat for golfers, business people, and a growing number of tourists to Myanmar.
Awei Metta offers guests a spa, fitness centre, swimming pool and conference room, as well as a signature restaurant specializing in French and Burmese dishes.
Awei Metta is owned by Myanmar’s Memories Group, which owns and operates resorts and travel experiences across the country, including its own island in the Mergui Archipelago with one resort, Awei PIla; yachting tours; eco-lodges; and the hot-air balloon flights of Balloons Over Bagan.
