Messe Berlin: ITB India show goes on

-

SINGAPORE, 6 December 2019: ITB India happens from 15 to 17 April 2020 insists Messe Berlin Singapore in a statement that suggests India’s Fairfest could be creating a false impression that “perhaps there is an interim order restraining Messe Berlin from organising the travel trade show.”

The ‘show must go on’ assurances came from Messe Berlin (Singapore) managing director, Katina Leung in response to questions fielded by TTR Weekly earlier week.

Leung said: “ It is our duty at Messe Berlin to correct this wrong impression. The Sole Arbitrator vided its interim order (to) allow Messe Berlin to conduct ITB India in April 2020.”

Messe Berlin has organised what is widely considered the world’s largest travel show for over the past 50 years and ITB Berlin has become a key show brand in the international travel market with off-shoots in Singapore and China.

Leung added: “It was our aim to introduce the strong and successful brand that is ITB to the Indian market, for which the inaugural ITB India offers an ideal opportunity. Together with the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce, Messe Berlin has entered the Indian travel market and will organise ITB India 2020. We are delighted that ITB India will complement the trio of ITB Berlin, ITB Asia and ITB China, making it a quartet and strengthening the global ITB brand.”

ITB India 2020 remains on track to take place in Mumbai (India), from 15 to 17 April 2020 with big support from the industry.

“We are satisfied with the exhibitor numbers so far,” said Leung in the statement. “ The list of our committed exhibitors from around the world is long: including Austria, Brazil, China P.R., Finland, Germany, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Iran, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Portugal, Republic of Kenya, Russia, Singapore, Switzerland, Thailand, United States of America (USA), United Arab Emirates (UAE), Vietnam and many more.” She noted that industry experts and thought leaders from world’s leading travel brands will impart their knowledge at the ITB India Conference next year, including Accenture, Airbnb, AMEX GBT, Booking.com, BCD Meetings & Events, Cleartrip, Egencia, FCM Travel Solutions, IntelliStay Hotels, Ithaka, KAYAK, Kiwi.com, MakeMyTrip, OYO Hotels & Homes, PayPal, RateGain, redBus, Thrillophilla, TUI India, Travel Designer Group, TravelClick, Travelport and Yatra.”
