Lucky Air flies to Laos

VIENTIANE, Laos, 17 December 2019: Lucky Air will start two new routes, 22 to 23 December, from Kunming to the World Heritage town of  Luang Prabang and Vientiane the Lao capital.

According to Airlineroute timetable information, the airline will fly twice weekly on Wednesday and Sunday with a flight departing Kunming at 1535 arriving in Luang Prabang at 1630, effective 22 December.

The return flight will depart  Luang Prabang at 1730 and arrive in Kunming at 2010. Flights will use an Airbus A320 neo.

The twice-weekly service from Kunming will start on 23 December on Monday and Friday. The flight will depart Kunming at 2000 and arrive in Vientiane at 2100. The return flight will depart Vientiane at 2200 and arrive in Kunming at 0100 on the following morning.

Both flights are sold mainly to tour operators in Kunming who offer package holidays with no local sales in Laos. We checked the flights. It is possible to book a return ticket from Kunming to Vientiane on Trip.com with fares starting at around THB7,000. However, no booking options appeared for trips starting in Vientiane

Meanwhile, the airline confirmed it would upgrade to A330s on its Kunming to Bangkok route 21 January to 6 February 2020 to increase seat capacity and cater to high season demand for tour packages to the Thai capital while also covering the Chinese New Year holiday week.

It will fly four flights weekly using an Airbus A330-200 with the remaining three flights will continue to use a Boeing 737.

Lucky Air is a low-cost carrier based in Kunming, Yunnan, China. Founded in 2004, it first introduced services between Dali and Kunming and Xishuangbanna and Kunming. 

In recent years it has expanded to other cities in China and added international routes to neighbouring countries such as Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Japan.
