KRABI, Thailand, 27 November 2019: Singapore-based Banyan Tree Holdings confirmed this week it would take on the management of a new resort in Krabi by April 2020.
Under construction on Tubkaek Beach, at a site fronting the beach and the Andaman sea, the resort will offer 72 pool suites and villas, some with two or three-bedroom options.
The property is located 35 km from the airport or a “45-minute scenic drive” according to the resort’s pre-opening promotions.
Facilities will include a ballroom, a wedding chapel, a beach club, a kids’ club, a rainforest-themed spa and a fitness centre.
Banyan Tree Holdings said that it expects to open the doors of Banyan Tree Krabi to guests in April 2020. The real estate arm of TCC Group based in Bangkok owns the property.
If it has a competitive set, then Phulay Ritz Carlton Reserve would be the main contender with a starting rate of THB11,201 for bookings in June 2020.
Booking.com identifies nine resort properties on Tubkaek beach, which is one of Krabi’s quieter public beaches and the closest to a national park.
But in the five-star category, the booking site identifies just three properties; Amari Vogue at THB4,892 a night and Tubkaek Boutique Resort THB5,760 and the Ritz Carlton.
To date, the Banyan Tree Group manages, and in some instances has a financial stake, in over 47 hotels and resorts, 63 spas, 73 retail galleries, and three golf courses in 24 countries.
TCC Group, the property’s owner has 51 hotels and resorts in 11 countries that are mainly managed by leading hotel brands and just a handful under the management of Imperial Hotels, the group’s in-house brand.
