Airlines cut flights to Hong Kong

HONG KONG, 19 November 2019: Airline are cancelling services to Hong Kong as violent clashes between police and demonstrators escalate and the once-prosperous financial centre slips into recession.

India’s low-cost carrier SpiceJet cancelled its Mumbai – Hong Kong route at the end of October and has now confirmed the flight may not be reinstated until mid-January 2020 at the earliest. The airline continues to operate one daily Delhi – Hong Kong service.

AirAsia has cut some services to Hong Kong from Kota Kinabalu and Kuala Lumpur. However, Thai AirAsia says it plans to increase services during the first quarter of 2020 

Korean carriers Jeju Air and Jin Air reduced service to just daily flights. The airlines cancelled their Seoul Incheon – Hong Kong services since 1 November. 

Philippine Airlines has cut flights from Manila to Hong Kong from five to four weekly, while Cebu Pacific has reduced flights on selected routes to Hong Kong from Cebu and Clark.

Out of Cebu, flights reduce from 10 to seven weekly, while from Clark flights drop from 14 to 10 weekly. Despite these service reductions, the airline started a new service from Puerto Princesa to Hong Kong four times weekly.

Thai Airways International has cut back from five to four daily flights through to mid-January, while Thai Smile confirmed it would continue to fly a daily service to Hong Kong.

Garuda Indonesia reduced services to Hong Kong from 21 to four weekly flights up to mid-December.
