Marriott flies new flag in Malaysia

HONG KONG, 12 September 2019: Marriott International Inc has signed a landmark agreement with Malaysia’s YTL Hotels to bring the AC Hotels by Marriott brand to Malaysia.

Under the agreement, three existing hotels in Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Kuantan will fly the AC Hotels by Marriott brand flag.

The three hotels are scheduled to open under the AC Hotels by Marriott brand in December 2019.

“Marriott International and YTL have enjoyed a very successful partnership over many years,” said Marriott International president and managing director Asia Pacific, Craig Smith.

“Together, Marriott International and YTL have a current portfolio of 12 properties across Asia and Europe. We are confident that AC Hotels by Marriott will represent a wonderful new addition to YTL’s portfolio of Marriott International hotels.”

YTL Hotels executive director Dato’ Mark Yeoh referred to the 24-year long relationship with Marriott International.

“We currently operate 12 Marriott International properties in our portfolio of 36 hospitality assets and the figure continues to grow steadily. We are very excited to be the first in Malaysia.”

AC Hotel by Marriott Penang, is set to be the first Marriott International hotel in Penang, located in the island’s southeast district of Bukit Jambul.

AC Hotel by Marriott Kuala Lumpur will be located approximately 4km  from downtown Kuala Lumpur.

AC Hotel by Marriott Kuantan is located near the city centre at Cempedak Bay.
