AirAsia boosts A330 fleet

BANGKOK, 11 September 2019:  AirAsia welcomed its first two Airbus A330neo aircraft at Don Mueang Airport Tuesday that will beef up its long-haul fleet.

The two aircraft will operate services to key destinations across the Asia Pacific.

The Airbus A330neo is a new-generation wide-body aircraft that delivers an improved flight range and more cabin space with 12 Premium Flatbeds and 365 standard seats.

AirAsia X Group CEO Nadda Buranasiri said, “We are proud to welcome the future of low-cost, long-haul travel with this state-of-the-art aircraft, while at the same time being the first carrier in Thailand to operate the A330neo  across the Asia Pacific.”

AirAsia X Thailand currently operates 12 aircraft and targets to receive two more by the end of this year. From next year onwards it will operate an all-Airbus A330neo fleet.

The two aircraft will fly routes to Japan, Australia, China and South Korea.

Last week, AirAsia X also placed a firm order with Airbus for an additional 12 A330neo which will increase the fleet to 78 aircraft. AirAsia also confirmed an order for 30 new-generation A321XLR aircraft, the single-aisle Xtra Long Range aircraft.
