Travel trio completes live NDC bookings

-

SINGAPORE, 9 August 2019: Travel retailing reached a new milestone as American Airlines, American Express Global Business Travel and Amadeus team up to introduce live bookings using the US airline’s content.

The companies announced the move at the Global Business Travel Association 2019 Convention earlier this week.

They are processing live bookings using American’s NDC-enabled content with American Express Global Business Travel leveraging the new Amadeus Travel API.

It will lead to the full functionality of end-to-end booking flow and servicing, including cancellations, exchanges and ancillaries, when capabilities reach scalable production levels.

It represents a significant step forward for airline retailing as three industry leaders demonstrate how collaboration is key to creating value and choice.

American hopes to gain the benefit of the Amadeus travel platform through which travel companies like American Express Global Business Travel can provide access to comprehensive travel content.

Representatives of the three companies said collaboration was a milestone that brings them significantly closer to “making NDC-enabled content broadly available.”

“We’ve now reached another critical milestone with two travel industry giants,” said Amadeus vice president of the NDC [X] programme Gianni Pisanello. “The programme brings together all NDC activities across Amadeus and focuses on the practical uses of IATA’s NDC standard to deliver improved capabilities for the industry.”
