MANILA, 16 August 2019: Manila bay is most famous for its sunsets but how many times have we admired it and wished there was more to see?
The city’s mayor is confidently predicting that by the end of the year Manila Bay will sport a beach. It will be clean with a water treatment system to ensure the bay becomes a favourable tourist attraction.
Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso told local media and the Philippines New Agency last week that the beach should open to the public during the first quarter of 2020.
The government launched the rehabilitation of the famed bay area last January vowing to clean up tons of garbage, rid the bay of stinking untreated wastewater and create a new tourist attraction.
Clean-up efforts are being supervised by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Department of the Interior, according to the mayor.
The site under renovation is close to the Yacht Club a focal point on the bayfront road.
