HONG KONG, 6 August 2019: More than 200 flights were delayed or cancelled on Monday after transport and airline workers joined a strike in Hong Kong to support the ongoing protests.

According to a report in the Financial Times, Hong Kong International Airport identified 200 flights cancelled on Monday after clashes on Sunday evening between police and protesters. Most of the cancellations involved Hong Kong-based airlines such as Cathay Pacific, Cathay Dragon, Hong Kong Express, Hong Kong Airlines and some Chinese airlines.

On Monday afternoon, AirAsia confirmed it had rescheduled flights to and from Hong Kong Monday on the advice of the Airport Authority of Hong Kong.

In a press statement, the airline said it was advising guests travelling to and from Hong Kong to prepare for delays and even cancellations.
