MIRI, Sarawak, 2 August 2019: Sports fishing is fast catching on in Miri, as anglers head for Sarawak to pursue their favourite pastime.
Sarawak’s Hornbill Trail Newsletter promotes deep-sea fishing in this month’s edition with the announcement that Seamax Explorer fitted out for game fishing is now available for charters.
Fielding an experienced crew on board, this custom-build game fishing cruise boat can accommodate up to 20 including crew and captain.
The best season for game fishing in Sarawak runs from March to October.
Miri will host the 13th Miri City International Deep Sea Fishing Tournament, 18 to 21 June 2020, at the town’s marina.
Sponsored by Shimano the Japanese fishing gear specialist, the tournament is organized by the Miri Anglers Club, the Ministry of Tourism, Art & Culture, Youth and Sport, Maritim Malaysia and Miri City Council.
The 12 edition this year attracted 134 anglers from four countries comprising of 35 from Singapore, 28 from China, 15 from Brunei Darussalam and 56 from Malaysia They vied for prize money of MYR59,000.
In the meantime, Seamax Explorer can be chartered by groups for offshore fishing expeditions by Vincent Lo Kiun Sin – Miri Anglers Club (Secretary) at 6017 – 802 9002.
