BANGKOK, 28 August 2019: Dusit International, headquartered in the Thai capital, has signed a long-term lease agreement with I Am Chinatown company to develop and operate ASAI Bangkok Chinatown.
Slated to open early next year, ASAI Bangkok Chinatown will be the first hotel to open under ASAI Hotels, Dusit’s new “affordable lifestyle” brand. It will be located on Yaowarat Road, the main street running through Bangkok’s Chinatown.
The new Wat Mangkon MRT underground station, which connects Chinatown district to the rest of the city, is just a short 100 metres walk from the hotel.
Commenting on the new project, Dusit International Group CEO Suphajee Suthumpun said: “With its strong community focus and strategic location in one of Bangkok’s most vibrant neighbourhoods, the hotel establishes our presence in the affordable lifestyle market and prepares the ASAI brand for further expansion within the city and Southeast Asia.”
Alongside ASAI Bangkok Chinatown, five more properties are in the pipeline. Three ASAI Hotels will open in Cebu, Philippines (Mactan, Oslob, and IT Park districts); one in Yangon, Myanmar (Yankin Township); and the second hotel in Bangkok (Sathorn district). These properties should open from mid to late 2020.
This year, Dusit International begins the redevelopment of the flagship Dusit Thani Bangkok hotel following its demolition. Due to open in 2023, it will be part of the Dusit Central Park, a landmark mixed-use project comprising residences, an office building and retail areas.
