Bangkok Airways expands in Cambodia

BANGKOK, 1 August 2019: Bangkok Airways is planning a new service from its home base Bangkok to Sihanoukville in Cambodia.

Due to start 1 January 2020, Airlineroute timetable information confirms the airline will offer a daily service using a 70-seat ATR72.

The daily flight will depart from Suvarnabhumi airport in Bangkok at 1155 and arrive in Sihanoukville at 1340.

The return flight will depart Sihanoukville at 1415 and return to Bangkok at 1555.

Bangkok Airways currently serves two destinations in Cambodia, Siem Reap and Phnom Penh.

Thai AirAsia launched four weekly from Bangkok to Sihanoukville in Cambodia, 1 July, served by the 180-seat Airbus A320. When it announced the new direct service back in April the airline sold a one-way fare at THB 990.  Today the roundtrip fare is around USD110.

Sihanoukville is Cambodia’s main port town on the Gulf of Thailand coast and is famous for its casinos and resorts at beaches close to the city as well as Koh Rong, Cambodia’s second-largest island a 25 km ferry ride from the city’s port.
