TTM’s approval rating high

-

BANGKOK, 5 July 2019: Diverse content and a revamped business format at the 2019 Thailand Travel Mart Plus (TTM+) gained the approval of buyers and exhibitors according to the Thailand Authority of Thailand’s post-event survey.

Held 5 to 6 June at the Ocean Marina Yacht Club, the 18th TTM+ recruited new buyers and media from new source markets according to the TAT assessment released Thursday.

New exhibitors from Thailand’s so-called emerging destinations attended the show Their presence underscored that a campaign to spread tourism beyond urban centres and major destination to minor resorts and cities is gaining traction.

For many of them, it was the first opportunity to promote their travel and hospitality products beyond the domestic market.

A line-up of all-Thai speakers led knowledge-sharing sessions for both buyers and sellers on the first day of the event.

Tours combining the Eastern Corridor of Thailand with neighbouring Cambodia gained attention as well as, a product showcase for community-based enterprises.

Participants recognised the TTM pursued a green and environmentally friendly agenda that reduced the carbon footprint.

Under the theme of “New Shades of Emerging Destinations”, the event was held for the second consecutive year in Pattaya.

Based on the online survey responses from 72% of the buyers and 38% of the sellers, the event was expected to generate THB2.77 billion worth of economic and business value.

A total of 59% of the buyers and sellers said they entered into immediate business contracts, a strong indication that the trade show attracted decision-makers both sellers and buyers.

Asked specifically about the potential of the “Emerging Destination Showcase”, 85.06% of the buyers felt that the products and services offered have the potential for inclusion in future tour programmes.

The post-tour programme helped to promote land links between Thailand and the Greater Mekong Subregion countries. One of the tours was a five-day, four-night itinerary covering Pattaya – Rayong – Chanthaburi – Battambang – Siem Reap, showing that it was possible to travel overland all the way to the famed temples of Angkor Wat from the Pattaya gateway.
