Singapore tops Asia venue list

-

SINGAPORE, 31 July 2019: Singapore ranks the top meeting destination in Asia for four consecutive years, according to events and hospitality technology provider, Cvent.

Cvent released its list of the Top 25 Meeting Destinations for meetings and events in Asia Tuesday, based booking activity across Cvent’s venue sourcing sites.

Cvent’s venue sourcing sites, including Cvent Supplier Network (CSN) account for USD16 billion in business sourced in 2018.

Singapore retained its pole position as the most popular destination for business meetings and events, while China featured prominently with six cities on the list.

Asian cities featured in a single Asia Pacific list, but due to increased sourcing volume to the region, Cvent spun off Asian to a standalone list this year for the first time.

Commenting on the listing, Singapore Tourism Board executive director, conventions, meetings & incentive travel, Edward Koh said: “This accolade is a testament to Singapore’s reputation as a choice destination for business events. Our distinct offerings of a pro-business environment, strategic location in Asia, positive safety track record, as well as a diverse selection of unique and inspiring venues and experiences,  give us an edge.”

“With more events being held, we’re proud to expand our lists this year with the addition of Top Meeting Destinations in Asia,” said Cvent Hospitality Cloud vice president of marketing, Chris McAndrews.

“Meeting and event activity in the region is booming, and cities such as Seoul, Osaka, and Yokohama have all risen in rank year-over-year highlighting their successful efforts in positioning themselves as top cities to host meetings and events.

“Business events add USD1.5 trillion to the global GDP and because of this positive economic impact, the cities featured in this year’s Top Meeting Destinations lists have put significant time and resources into attracting more business events.”

Methodology
Cvent evaluated more than 11,000 cities worldwide featured on Cvent’s venue sourcing sites to compile the eighth annual list. The activity was tracked from January 2018 through December 2018 and destinations were ranked according to the following criteria:

Unique requests for proposals received
Total room nights received
Awarded request for proposals
Awarded room nights
Percentage of qualified meeting venues
Number of profile views
