Vietnam reports strong travel demand

HANOI, 7 June 2019: Vietnam continues to clock a positive trend in tourist arrivals for the first four months of 2019.

International arrivals reached 5,968,880 representing an increase of 7.6% over the same period last year.

During April, arrivals reached 1,468,766 an increase of 9.5% when compared with April 2018.

Tourist visits continue to be driven by the China and Korea markets. Trips from Korea reached 1,445,879 an increase of 23.2% over the four months of 2018. China is still the top supplier with 1,707,819 trips, but since the beginning of the year the pace has dropped off with the four months down 3.8% when compared with the same period in 2018.

Thailand is emerging as a strong supply market for Vietnam this year with 174,777 trips up 46.5%. Other emerging source markets include Indonesia with 38,540 trips, but up 29.1%.

Taiwan remains a strong reliable source with 284,310 visits in the first quarter up 25%, while steady Japan delivered 302,804 up by 8.2%.

Russia another steady traditional market for Vietnam delivered 273,782 trips up an improvement of 4.5%
