TTM back in Pattaya 5 to 7 June

-

BANGKOK, 1 June 2019: Organisers of the annual Thailand Travel Mart Plus, to be hosted in Pattaya 5 to 7 June, have confirmed the show will host 351 international buyers.

They will meet with 371 sellers, mostly hospitality and travel content suppliers from Thailand with a smattering of government travel office representatives from neighbouring countries.

Tourism Authority of Thailand, the event organiser, is also hosting 130 international and domestic media at the three-day trade show.

Hosted in Pattaya for the second consecutive, TTM will once more be housed in a custom-built air-conditioned marquee erected at the Ocean Marina Yacht Club, about 10 km south of the resort town’s main bay.

TTM core objective is to promote the country’s secondary destinations beyond the popular gateways of Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket and Chiang Mai.

TAT claims the experience gives small tourism players the opportunity to meet international buyers at a fraction of the cost of attending international shows such as ITB Berlin and the World Travel Market.

Thailand has identified 55 emerging destinations that according to estimates generated around 6.2 million international tourist trips in 2018, a growth of around 4.95% compared with 2017.

TAT presented its first summary on the buyer and seller breakdown 29 May. Europe, the Middle East and Africa represent the biggest share of the hosted buyers. Both Europe and the Middle East deliver poor tourist arrival performances according to Thailand’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports monthly reports. Both regions need more promotions to reinvigorate and improve growth rates.

East Asia mainly on the back of travel booms from China and Korea are the top stars of the arrivals chart, while Europe jogs along with marginal growth and the Middle East continues a dramatic slide that has been evident for several years.  The push to bring more buyers from Europe and the Middle East will be welcomed by Thailand’s travel sellers.

TAT’s information on buyer profiles confirms that by region, the EU, Africa and the Middle East comprise the largest contingent (136) followed by ASEAN, South Asia and the South Pacific (95), East Asia (79) and the Americas (41). Of the total buyers, 185 are repeaters and 166 are first-time buyers.

By country, the largest turnout is from China (65) followed by the United Kingdom (29), India (23), Australia (18), Italy (15), USA (15), Russia (14), and Brazil (13).

Of the 371 registered sellers hotels and resorts dominate with 278, followed by travel agents and tour operators (23), emerging destinations (20), entertainment (12), the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) (10), NTOs (10) associations (9), and others (9). Of the Thailand-based sellers, 40.89% are from the South, central region (30.47%), the East (12.76%), North (5.47%) and Northeast (6.77%).
