Mövenpick milks opening story

-

BANGKOK, 26 June 2019: If there was a prize for the longest hotel opening phase Mövenpick BDMS in Bangkok would probably gain an honourable mention.

Possibly, not the longest drawn-out opening phase, but it is a contender in the runners up class for publicising an opening 25 June when it has been happily welcoming guests since 14 April.

Located on the site of the former Nai Lert Park that was once a Hilton and had the city’s best cigar shop, the Mövenpick BDMS sports 293 rooms and a wellness centre. The cigar shop has long gone.

Booking.com quotes THB3,789 as the cheapest rate on offer at Mövenpick BDMS, a miserable opening offer that lacks a breakfast ( extra THB942) and requires an advance non-refundable payment. But you don’t check-in this hotel to enjoy a cheap stay. Rather you are here to pamper your self at the resort’s elaborate wellness centre

“We are delighted to bring a hotel inspired by such a unique wellness concept into the heart of the city, where our guests can relax within lush green gardens whilst enjoying convenient access to the BDMS Wellness Clinic,” said Accor for Upper Southeast & Northeast Asia and the Maldives chief operating officer Patrick Basset.

If it hasn’t twigged the resort is designed for health-fanatics who yearn for organic food and sessions at the BDMS Wellness Clinic, where preventive healthcare treatments fill the calendar with sessions of physiotherapy, digestive wellness, dental and even fertility treatments if you are so inclined.

Owner of the Mövenpick brand, Accor even has a well-being director Lindsay Madden-Nadeau who will steer the marketing to reach out to wellness travellers worldwide.

“Our new offering in Bangkok is a perfect example of how Accor and its leading hotel brands are meeting this need and delivering sustainable, approachable wellbeing concepts to visiting guests as well as local communities,” the well-being director said.

The hotel operations are run by veteran hotelier Bruno Huber who moved from Vietnam where he led Mövenpick’s expansion plans.

Including Mövenpick BDMS Wellness Resort Bangkok the brand has 85 Mövenpick hotels and resorts in 25 countries.

In Thailand, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts operates in key destinations that include Phuket, Pattaya, Chiang Mai and Hua Hin.

Mövenpick BDMS Wellness Resort Bangkok is Accor’s third Mövenpick property in Bangkok, joining the Mövenpick Bangkok Sukhumvit and Mövenpick Residences Ekkamai Bangkok.
